Ergo Carriers Which one and Pics

I have a beco and an ergo (and others, but I won't bore you! :lmao:)

It's ESSENTIAL IMO!

Here's our latest trip - DS had just turned 2 - around 30 lbs

we LOVE our Ergos. I had 2 of them for our first trip when DSs were almost 3 and 16 months. It was great for crowded times-like when we would go back to the park for the parade/fireworks.
I actually wore them both at the same time in the airport. I wish I had a pic of one in the front, one in the back, and me pushing an empty stroller through the airport. I got lots of strange looks!

I still use it when we go into stores. I can still comfortable carry my 40lb 4.5 year old.

okay..I'm definately getting one. Now my question is for those who have both beco and ergo, which one do you like? Is there even a difference? The beco seems to be a little more expensive. I will probably just buy it and show my DH. I think the price would knock him on his butt. :rolleyes1 thanks again and thanks for all the pictures.

PS. I think when you had both of your kids in carriers together and were pushing the stroller you should have started freaking out saying oh my gosh I lost one of my kids, where did he go? I had two. LOL (I don't know I'm tired. :confused3)

Tough choice! I say get both, LOL!

OK,really....I like the beco for it's higher back and pretty designs (but I really don't like the new one - I prefer the 4th generation, not the butterfly)

I like the Ergo for it's dependability, the pocket and the sleeping hood

If you only were going to get one, I'd say the Ergo - plus Husband's usually will wear the Ergo more often than the beco (not ALL, just most - My DH will wear a purple carrier if that's what he needed to do, LOL!)

There are some pretty embroidered ergo's now if you wanted the ergo to be prettier like a beco.

J3nn78 - I think I love you!!! I'd had to go grocery shopping with younger DS in a ring sling on the front and older DS on my back in a SSC! LOL! It IS a sight isn't it - I love the looks and comments I get!

here's another 4th gen Beco pic - DS is nursing here and you can hardly tell - one benefit to the higher back

Not the best pic, but here's an original. She sits pretty low but it is very comfy. I can put my 33 lb 3 (almost 4) year old in it w/ no problems as well.

I mostly see the butterfly beco now. what is the difference from the 4th generation? I keep changing my mind. Now I'm leaning towards the beco because it doesn't look as bulky and is higher up. My DH will wear whatever I get him, whether he likes it or not. :lmao:

the only way you'll find a 4th generation is a used one (I've got a like new one for sale, wink wink) - it's more like the Ergo in that there's no fabric between you and your baby - one huge advantage, to me, in wearing your baby on your front is also being able to nurse/breastfeed at the same time...I don't see how it's possible with the beco butterfly because of the piece of fabric that runs down the carrier...BUT, the built in seat does make it easier for back carries if you're not experienced with wearing your baby on your back....

Now, to throw another suggestion out there - I really like my Bloo Kangaroo carrier - it has a high back, SUPER comfortable waist and pretty designs!

LOVE my Ergo!! I have back and migraine issues and I can carry DD for at least and hour or two and not have any pain. I tried the Beco and we didn't like it at all. The fabric between baby and you seems to defeat the purpose of having your baby close. I also love having it so I can nurse and still be walking around the mall or wherever and not make everyone stop to wait on us. You can find them used on diaperswappers.com sometimes a good bit cheaper than from Ergo or other stores. Also, if you have a Buy Buy Baby, they sell them.

I have an Ergo, not sure which one, I got it off CL. It's black and maroon. Here is DD in it (5 mo), and I do have the waist folded up to make her sit up higher. She is arching back looking up at me, that's why her head is hanging back LOL. I LOVE my Ergo!! The resale value is high too.

My friend has an Angel Pack, which I totally love...a little less bulky and comes in cute patterns but $$$$.

I was recently given an Ergo, but am not too sure about it yet. It seems like there is a learning curve with it. How long did it take all of you to figure out how to get it on and your baby in it, especially the back carry? It takes me so long to figure it out right now that my 15 mos old DD is completely annoyed with me by the time I get it all situated and wants out. Any tips would be great!

Whenever I get a new carrier I go to youtube and watch videos about how to put it on, then practice in a mirror.

Good luck!

yup, youtube is a great resource - I'll see if I can get a video too - you just want the back carry?

those that have beco and ergo..how much higher up does the baby sit in a beco?

It's not necessarily how high up the baby sits...it's how high the back is on the carrier - so how much support is up the back of the child. Some kids like to buck back and that's easier to do in an ergo because the back is lower - or if they fall asleep, a higher back is easier so they don't flop back. That being said, I like the sleeping hood on the ergo better, so that helps to make up for the lower back of it.

Clear as mud, right???

maybe I'll try and get my DH to take comparison pics today with both of my kiddos! (2 yo and 6 month old)

It's just so hard to decide when I can't see them in person. I am leaning towards the beco bec/ it doesn't look as bulky. However, the ergo sport looks less bulky than the regular ergo. I just don't want to feel like my baby is way low and not close to us. For the most part I am sure we will front carry (at least in feb at disney) in the summer we may use the back. I don't know. My DH okay the beco with the deer print (except for the fact he didnt' see the price..shhhhhhh):rolleyes1 If we go with the ergo it will be a black one. I have a little more time to decide. Reading on Amazon a lot like the beco. I dont know.....

the baby's butt sits at the top of the waistband, so it's up to you how you decide to wear the waistband. ..on your hips = lower or more on your tummy = higher.
