I took Mr. Turkey out of the oven after 6 blistering hours.Let him rest 30 min then went to work on him. Hmmm. These joints seem unusually stiff for a cooked bird.
The meat is tender enough. Hmmm. The dark meat seems sorta tough. Hmmmm. Why is the oven door cool to the touch?
I think DH may have accidently turned off the oven, possibly as early as 7pm, which would put the cooking time at 4 hours(16-lb bird.) It's not pink inside and the juices are clear. But the meat just "acts" differetn. It's sorta weird.
At this point I'm an exhausted with the whole thing.I've been cooking all day. I cut the meat up and put it into smaller packages. I'm going to get up tomorrow and reheat the meat with the drippings and hopefully the texture will straighten out.
And my burnt foot hurts,too
At this point I'm ready to serve hot dogs.
