EpiPens/medicine at water parks - where do you keep them?

We are headed to the water parks for the first time this summer. We have inhalers and EpiPens we keep with us at all times. Just wondering what you do with EpiPens and inhalers at the water parks? Do you kept them in a water proof bag? Take turns on water rides? Do you place them in a locker with your bag? Thanks for your help.

We usually go in the off season when it's not too hot and usually just keep the Epi and inhalers in the pool bag at our chair. My ds12 is allergic to latex so he's probably not going to come into contact with it there and need the Epi but if your allergies could be something that you would come into contact with you might want to look into a small case you could carry with you. Keep in mind that they are supposed to stay room temperature as well.

Thanks for your info. Our DD's allergy is to peanuts, so we should be OK as long as we don't eat there. I'd worry about leaving them though in case someone accidentally grabs the wrong bag or moves it. We are going in August, so I just bought a thermal bag to hold the EpiPens to keep them cooler.

We have PAP's which include Disney's water parks and several times I have seen people searching for bags or items that "walked" away. (Happened to a friend of mine once at Hershey Park's water park.) So we always get a locker.

My oldest has an epipen and we always kept it in a locker.

Since people can bring cooler bags and snacks it's possible to have someone around you eating something with peanuts. If her allergy is airborne too, you may want to keep it at your beach bag anyway.

At BB there are lockers in the Ski Patrol area as well as the main locker area. We have always requested the ski patrol area for it's location.

Thanks for your replies. I think we will keep it in a locker.

FYI...my DD is allergic to peanuts and nuts and has been able to eat safely at Typhoon Lagoon. Early in the day I visit one of the food stands and ask to see the allergy binder and plan accordingly. That way, when we want to eat lunch, and the lines are long, we already know what is safe for her and we simply tell the CM taking the order about our allergies.

Also, we get a locker and keep the Epis there, however, I do get them out of the locker before we eat lunch and put them back when we're done. Don't want to be running to the lockers for the Epi Pens when the reaction is already underway. Too much pressure! :)

Thanks for this info. That sounds like the perfect solution! I'll be sure to check the food binder early. Thanks for the tip!

Have you seen the new epi-pen called Auvi-q?? It looks more like a small phone and also takes away having to stab. yourself with the pen...might be something to check out especially for the kids, they could do this one themselves if they ever had too:)

My ds12 got a couple of those two weeks ago. They are nice and compact and would easily fit in the back pocket. He has been practicing with the tester that came along with the injectors. They talk you through the process but you still have to push it against your leg to have the needle come out - I'm not sure many kids would be able to do that.

During our recent visits to Discovery Cove and Aquatica we left our son's Auvi-Q in the first aid office so that it would stay at room temperature. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Oh wow...thank you so much for telling us about that new epi thingy. I just signed up for the discount card.

I carry my pens with me everywhere I go...on walks, to the beach, everywhere. I'm allergic to honey bees.

This new thing looks a lot easier to mess with.
