Epic Universe second visit:
After lounging at the pool and hot tub in the AM, it was off to Epic. I took the bus from Stella Nova, by myself, around 1:00 PM. In less than 3 minutes, I was at the drop-off. I walked about 2 minutes to the main entrance and had to go to Guest Services to get my complimentary entry. I was greeted by a TM and then escorted to a window (about 5 TMs were working the windows, but only one other group was there). Armed with my case number and I.D., I was given my entrance ticket.
I took my time walking/sitting as needed, but enjoyed the much lower temperatures and humidity I experienced this past spring. I did repeat visits to both shows and still think they are top notch. I stopped at Meads Hall and had the salmon sandwich with ancient grains with dried fruit. Both were excellent albeit not a cheap sandwich, but as they say cheap fish isn’t good and good fish isn’t cheap. The salmon was a nice thick selection well seasoned and perfectly cooked so as to not dry out the center. The arugula, cucumbers and horseradish sauce complimented the fresh roll and worked incredibly well together. The ancient grains were a delight.
I was eager to see the Christmas decorations at MoM. They were well done and seemed appropriate with quantity/location. But, it was missing something. I knew what it was. They needed some snoap at night. That and some holiday background music would have set the atmosphere to perfection. Still, it was great visiting for an extended period at night where the signage pops. I even had several occasions where there were some bench seats available. To me, the MoM is the best themed, cohesive land.
I got a chance to watch a fountain show sitting around the pond. Again, at night is when the colors and music really enveloped me. There were hardly any guests sitting down as I think the intermittency lends itself to those that are walking in Celestial Park, just walk over and stand along the fence. The concept art had me thinking, or more like hoping, these fountains would challenge Bellagio in Las Vegas. They are nice, but the scale felt underwhelming. I blame myself for setting up false expectations.
I stopped in Nintendo for quick takes/pics and high-tailed it out. It is 100% not for me, but easily see the appeal for younger audiences. It’s mighty impressive at night, again, due to color/lights just coming to life.
In summary, I am glad to have revisited Epic Universe at the right time of year and taking a more leisurely approach. It felt entirely different this time with the combination of staying at Stella Nova and doing QS meals as opposed to Atlantic and/or Blue Dragon. The mobile order system at Epic Universe is flawless. A+.
I’ve said it before, but as they expand the lands I really hope they add more indoor attractions that are more friendly to those less adventurous. I look at an attraction like RotR as the standard of creating an e-ticket experience that I feel almost anyone can participate/ride. I plan to go back to Epic and maybe stay at Luna Terra next time, just for comparison's sake.
