Many Disney games do seem to be pretty bad, but the early reviews for Epic Mickey have been very good. It's different than most of the "licensed games" (which is what those sorts of games are called), in that most of those games are just created to tie in with whatever movie or cartoon and not much thought is put into them. The game studios just seem to crank those games out as fast as possible. Epic Mickey was designed as a video game as opposed to just a marketing tool, sort of like the Kingdom Hearts games. Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts are both in a whole different category than most of the Disney games that have been released. The people involved are fairly well respected in gaming circles, and they've spent a long time working on the game to get it just right. Even the critics who tend to write off all licensed games have high hopes for Epic Mickey, so I definitely think it's worth checking it out. I suspect the price will drop eventually, but if it lives up to the hype the price probably won't be dropping any time soon. $49.99 is the only price I've seen for it so far, and I wouldn't expect to see it discounted significantly from that anywhere.
