Any good deals out there? Best I've seen is the $49.99.

DO you all think it'll be good? My 13 year old has asked for it....

Been disappointed in Disney Wii games in the past and am a little hesitant...

disney releases a lot of crap games, a lot...
but id be really surprised if they let someone make a bad mickey game.
i really want to check it out, but ill deffinatly wait til a price drop or sale.

Many Disney games do seem to be pretty bad, but the early reviews for Epic Mickey have been very good. It's different than most of the "licensed games" (which is what those sorts of games are called), in that most of those games are just created to tie in with whatever movie or cartoon and not much thought is put into them. The game studios just seem to crank those games out as fast as possible. Epic Mickey was designed as a video game as opposed to just a marketing tool, sort of like the Kingdom Hearts games. Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts are both in a whole different category than most of the Disney games that have been released. The people involved are fairly well respected in gaming circles, and they've spent a long time working on the game to get it just right. Even the critics who tend to write off all licensed games have high hopes for Epic Mickey, so I definitely think it's worth checking it out. I suspect the price will drop eventually, but if it lives up to the hype the price probably won't be dropping any time soon. $49.99 is the only price I've seen for it so far, and I wouldn't expect to see it discounted significantly from that anywhere.

My DB told me the same thing, reviews for this game have been really good.
He knows about games a lot and he thought it will be a great game for my boys DS7 & DS4> He bought it for them as a Christmas' gift.:santa:

I'm keeping my eye out also!

So far, Costco $45.99 & Disneystore.com you can use your 20% coupon if you recevied one.

It's going to be crazy fantastic.

I got mine from disneyshopping for 20% off and free shipping last week, but that deal is over. (Plus I'm getting it 2 weeks after the release date, because they backordered the preorder...lame, but worth 20% off).

I think it might come down to where you can get it as opposed to the cost.

There is a post where disneystore.com already has it backordered JUST from preorders.

I have a feeling this will be a very popular game and not just among Disney fans.

My Dad is buying it for us as our Christmas present. I agree the reviews and trailers are very promising. Many people are saying that the creator makes highly rated games and this will be a great one. I love these kind of games. I'm also going to buy myself the Wii paintbrush numchuck from Amazon.

This. The difference between a licensed game designed to go along with a movie and a game developed as a video game is night and day. A movie video game is no better than promo Happy Meal toys, IMHO.

If you look at any articles about game development it talks about how deep they went into Disney history for forgotten characters to use in the realm the game takes place, how they used all these classic shorts to make platforming levels between the worlds based on movies, etc. The guy who did this loves Disney and is a renowned video game developer in his own right, so I have high hopes. I expect it to be on par with Kingdom Hearts (both I and II), which incidentally anyone here should play if they haven't already.

I played it a little at DTD last week. It was actually a lot of fun :)

Could you please share some details about the game?

All I have seen is the cover advertisement. Even when I was talking with the electronics dept at TRU when I first saw the poster, they said that there is much buzz about how great it is, but they hadn't seen anything that actually showed you any screen shots from the game or anything like that.

The graphics in the little section I played were pretty cool. They were cartooney but still very neat looking. The section I played took place in what kind of looked like a dungeon. This was definitely a dark game. :) I don't normally play many videogames so I don't have much to compare it to.
The gameplay itself used both the regular wii remote and the nunchuck. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but as soon as I got it, it was pretty easy to maneuver.

Has anyone heard anything about an "Epic Mickey" event at Wal-Mart? I saw a sign in our local store saying some kind of celebration would be on Dec 4th (giveaways, etc) but when I googled it just now, this thread was the only relevant thing that came up.

Tous R Us is having a sale this week: purchase Epic Mickey and get 50% off any other Wii game. Seems to be the best deal right now if there are two games you are looking for. My DD has asked for the Michael Jackson game ( so that wil be two 49.99 games for 75: 37.50/each). Anyone else find a better deal?
