hi all just had to refill my sons epipen prescription and it went up to $115 with insurance. i was just curious if anyone else's insurance covers more. i saw on cvs site (after the fact ) that they will refill for $41 anyone know if this is true (it was under the minute clinic) of course i will pay anything for my piece of mind and ds safety but it seems so steep since most of our copays are 3-5 dollars. thanks all:)

I would check with the insurance company. That is a steep increase so it could be an error. Or you are like us and your policy had changes in June and of course everything goes up.

Wow! That's a lot of $$$. Our insurance is tiered for prescriptions and we pay a $40. co-pay for each of the epi pens in our family (a regular one for my older ds and an epi jr. for my youngest). The $40. is the highest of the tiered amts.

One thing I do to keep the costs down: check with a pharmacy or two and find out what the expiration date is on their epi-pens. One time I was about to get one filled and it would have expired only 6 months later so now I always ask first. The manufacturer prints the exp. date on the packaging itself and it may differ from the one the pharmacy slaps on with their label. The best I've gotten is 18 months out, pehaps longer (can't remember exactly). But there was a huge difference between a couple of different pharmacies. If I had to pay the whole thing out of pocket I'd be shopping the price around as well.

thanks friends i did check the expiration date it is 12 months out. i think i will call the insurance co. today and check to see why.

WOW! We have 3 people in my family with epi-pens and thank goodness we only have a $15 co-pay!:worship:

just found out from the insurance co that i have a 100 dollar deductible on the epipen . after that any other epipen refill before dec of this year will only be a 25 copay. so needless to say i will refill in dec, and that will get me a couple of extra months. thanks again.:)

We get 2/month (twin packs) with zero copay. After that I believe it's in the $15 range. Dunno, we've never gone over.

My insurance co-pays on epi-pens were always $50. Imagine my suprise this year when I had a new RX for one - my old one had expired- and was able to get a generic for $10!

Wonder if the generic is new????

We pay 35/ twin pack epi jr. We always check dates. Would love to get for generic price!!!!!
