In order to get to Epcot we decide to walk the path that runs around the back of the Beach Club and the Villas. From where we are it isn't that much faster than walking through the Beach Club to the International Gateway. Annual Passes in hand we enter the park. I kind of miss walking through the front, past Spaceship Earth on the first visit. I love the entrance music. We are hungry so we make our way to The Electric Umbrella since The Land is closed.
We decide to order the Ham and Pretzel bread sandwiches. They come with coleslaw, but decide to order A la carte instead. No point in ordering something we won't eat. The order is placed and when we get to the counter the clerk has entered the wrong sandwich on our receipt. He tells us not to worry about it and says to tell the people behind the counter what we want. Uh ok, won't that screw up the food they are preparing? The clerks behind the counter are confused. One nice guy fixes the problem and realizes how the cashier goofed up. Now they've prepared hot sandwiches and have to change them to what we originally ordered. Now let me state we never complained, just told them that their was a mistake on our receipt. It only took a minute to correct and it wasn't a big deal. A lovely young lady brings us the food we ordered and gives us two chocolate chip cookies for having to wait. WOW. We were shocked. They had no reason to give us a freebie. Stuff happens. Needless to say we thanked her profusely and enjoyed the surprise cookies with our meal.
After dinner we head to Test Track. What fun. We get to ride together for a change. We walk onto the ride. Ah the joys of traveling in January. No line ups. Fantastic. My hair makes me look like I've been electrocuted after the ride.
We head to Mouse Gears and shop for awhile. Always interesting seeing the winter wear Disney produces. I normally want to buy pajamas but nothing appeals to me. Later we head to the pin station and I check out the new pins. I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the Disney Piece Of History 20,000 Leagues pin. This pin has an actual piece of one part of the ride vehicles inside of it. It is due to be released on the 28th. I keep that in mind as I browse the pins.
After I've digested I decide to get a smoothie. Now this term ?smoothie? makes me laugh. These icy frozen concoctions used to be called ?Granitas.? I guess most people didn't know what that word meant so they went with ?smoothie.? This treat is just ice blended with fruity sugar so it most definitely isn't a smoothie. I order Strawberry. Yum. Tastes like frozen Strawberry jam. I've waited for one since my last trip in August.
At this point we are getting tired and decide to head back to the Villas. I want to go to the store to get a few groceries for our fridge. Much to our surprise the store is being renovated and they have moved a portion of their merchandise to a new space in the Beach Club. I found this disappointing. The selection of merchandise and food was minimal. They had all their frozen goods crammed into a regular refrigerator. A lot of the stuff had freezer burn on it. We picked up a few things and paid for them.
Back in the room we put our groceries away and got ready for bed. The sofa bed seemed to be ok, and I fell asleep quickly. I normally toss and turn all night but because of the way the bed is shaped I slept on my back all night. I felt like I sunk into the middle of the bed and couldn't turn over. It was kind of weird, but at least I slept. (More to come)
