So my mom was diagnosed with Al's. We have to travel to Florida to take her to a specialist to get into a study. She has agreed I can visit one disney park while we are there. I've been to disney land but have always wanted to go to epcot since i was young.
So:
Is epcot doable in a day? Will I be able to ride most of the rides in that time ( and still have time for a photo in every country)? Does each country store sell keychains? ( my only souvineer, as I use them to decorate my Christmas tree)? Any idea what a keychain in Disney costs? Trying to plan ahead even though we wouldn't be going till November

Hi, flying_babyb.

Best wishes for success for your mom?

She has agreed I can visit one disney park while we are there. I've been to disney land but have always wanted to go to epcot since i was young.

Yes, I believe EPCOT is doable in a day, but I can't do that anymore.

When the WDW parks open they will only open for ten hours. My vacation will hopefully in December and I'm hoping the hours will be longer than ten hours or back to normal hours with possibly extra hours.

But the changes in SARS-COVID-2 are worsening now...so who knows.

Will I be able to ride most of the rides in that time ( and still have time for a photo in every country)?

I think so.

But that depends on the ride lines since there is no more Fastpass. I don't know if or when they may start their Genie App.

And it might depend on your mobility.

Does each country store sell keychains? ( my only souvineer, as I use them to decorate my Christmas tree)?

I remember seeing them last year in the main stores. They might have had them in each country.

Any idea what a keychain in Disney costs? Trying to plan ahead even though we wouldn't be going till November

Probably more than you can buy now at your local department store.

Maybe someone else will have better answers to your quetions.

Thanks for your answer! I found 9 rides/attractions I would want to do. I never balk at the price of a keychain. Paid $12 for one at Wrigley feild

I think it's "doable" to visit every country's pavilion, and get a picture taken. Riding every ride might not be; FastPasses will be your friend, but remember that if you don't get to ride every ride, it's OK; no one ever leaves Disney World having done Every.Single.Thing. they wanted to on that trip!

It's also important to remember that it is a long trek around the World Showcase - and so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and if you might need any sort of mobility assistance, plan ahead for that as well.

I would budget *at least* $15 to $20 for each keychain you plan to buy. There are some simpler "generic" keychains that I often buy to give to friends as little "I remembered you" gifts when I get home, but the more unique keychains are definitely more expensive. I believe every country will have a keychain (or some symbol on a keychain for that country) except for possibly Morrocco? I don't recall seeing keychains when we were there in January of this year (it's one of my personal favorite pavilions at EPCOT!). Having said that, we have no way of knowing right now what inventory will actually be out and displayed when EPCOT does reopen - and what may be reordered between then and your trip.

We *do* know that at least initially, EPCOT World Showcase Pavilions will NOT be staffed by CMs from their respective countries; at first, they will be staffed by "regular" Cast Members. It is not yet known if those CMs will wear the costumes traditionally associated with those pavilions.

Be sure to go to MouseGear at EPCOT - it's the big shop near the front where they sell a bit of everything Disney; they will have a good selection of keychains as well - and you can perhaps fill in some gaps in your collection there. If you have time to visit Disney Springs, the largest Disney Store in the world is there - it is *quite* the thing to see!

It's great to plan; just allow for serendipity, weather, mechanical breakdowns and other weirdness, as well as other Guests in general... because I don't know about anyone else here at the DIS, but I have yet to *ever* have a "planned" Disney day go as... planned! And that's a trip history that stretches back to July of 1972, so...

Good luck - I hope you get to visit EPCOT and have the best day possible - and come home with lots of great memories, and keychains for your Christmas Tree! 🙂

Yes Epcot is doable in a day... Now getting absolutely everything done in one day, I doubt it just because Epcot is so interesting, and they are alot of spots to really check out... lots of good spots for photos...

As far as the Key Chains... I have seen them, but it seems like they are more Epcot, or if there is a festival going on... instead of each country... I will say that each country offer some kind of Christmas ornament... I have a pickle for my tree from Germany, and Eiffel Tower from France...

Oh and there are trading pins, which you might be able to create some type of ornament for your tree with...

I know that sometimes they will have boxed ornaments in the shape of Mickey heads... which might do... as well there is a Christmas store at Disney Springs for any and everything you might be looking for...

Have you looked into the new reservation system for WDW? You might want to get your ticket and book your day ASAP.

Disney World is a different place right now. When they open up again they are controlling the amount of people entering each park. You have to have an advanced purchased park ticket in hand right now. Right now, Disney is not selling new park tickets. Only those with existing tickets and annual passes will get in when it opens up again. Obviously, as soon as it's safe to lift this restriction Disney will do so. If you have a park ticket you need to make a park reservation with an exact day of when you want to go. This is a wait and see proposition if this will be better by November.

Rides are being controlled to a degree to allow for proper social distancing. Right now, there are no advanced reservations for rides which is called
Fastpass. This could change by November; so, again, it's wait and see. You may have to lower your expectations. Pick out your top three rides and go from there. Try not to back track too much in the park; it wastes time. Park hours are more limited now, as well. Get there when the park opens. If you sleep your morning away, you will be disappointed.

Right now, Disney expects you to wear a mask. They will check your body temperature, too. If you are running a fever, you won't be allowed in. I'm not sure what their cut off point is for body temperature.

There should be some feedback coming in from guests going this summer. Keep watching these boards for info. This is all new; so, we need some experience with it all before knowing what to expect.

If you want to eat at a table service restaurant you need advanced reservations. Right now, you can book 60 days out. Again, this may change by November. Dining reservations are being limited, too for social distancing.

Hopefully, November will ease up on all the restrictions.
