So my mom was diagnosed with Al's. We have to travel to Florida to take her to a specialist to get into a study. She has agreed I can visit one disney park while we are there. I've been to disney land but have always wanted to go to epcot since i was young.
So:
Is epcot doable in a day? Will I be able to ride most of the rides in that time ( and still have time for a photo in every country)? Does each country store sell keychains? ( my only souvineer, as I use them to decorate my Christmas tree)? Any idea what a keychain in Disney costs? Trying to plan ahead even though we wouldn't be going till November
I think it's "doable" to visit every country's pavilion, and get a picture taken. Riding every ride might not be; FastPasses will be your friend, but remember that if you don't get to ride every ride, it's OK; no one ever leaves Disney World having done Every.Single.Thing. they wanted to on that trip!
It's also important to remember that it is a long trek around the World Showcase - and so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and if you might need any sort of mobility assistance, plan ahead for that as well.
I would budget *at least* $15 to $20 for each keychain you plan to buy. There are some simpler "generic" keychains that I often buy to give to friends as little "I remembered you" gifts when I get home, but the more unique keychains are definitely more expensive. I believe every country will have a keychain (or some symbol on a keychain for that country) except for possibly Morrocco? I don't recall seeing keychains when we were there in January of this year (it's one of my personal favorite pavilions at EPCOT!). Having said that, we have no way of knowing right now what inventory will actually be out and displayed when EPCOT does reopen - and what may be reordered between then and your trip.
We *do* know that at least initially, EPCOT World Showcase Pavilions will NOT be staffed by CMs from their respective countries; at first, they will be staffed by "regular" Cast Members. It is not yet known if those CMs will wear the costumes traditionally associated with those pavilions.
Be sure to go to MouseGear at EPCOT - it's the big shop near the front where they sell a bit of everything Disney; they will have a good selection of keychains as well - and you can perhaps fill in some gaps in your collection there. If you have time to visit Disney Springs, the largest
Disney Store in the world is there - it is *quite* the thing to see!
It's great to plan; just allow for serendipity, weather, mechanical breakdowns and other weirdness, as well as other Guests in general... because I don't know about anyone else here at the DIS, but I have yet to *ever* have a "planned" Disney day go as... planned! And that's a trip history that stretches back to July of 1972, so...
Good luck - I hope you get to visit EPCOT and have the best day possible - and come home with lots of great memories, and keychains for your Christmas Tree!
