Epcot Worth It and easy?

Epcot is our favorite park! And the festivals are amazing. Like with any of the other parks there is walking but so much to enjoy! The 7yr olds may not find this their favorite park. Unless you are familiar with driving to resorts, I would drive to Epcot that morning and take the monorail to the Poly.

We are an EPCOT loving family too, and we spend 2 or more days there BUT that is when we have 8-9 days. Personally I would have just stuck with Disney and not done Universal with such a short trip, but that's just me. Anyway, with just 2 days, I would stick to 2 days at MK, simple and easy. Epcot is HUGE, and you won't be able to really enjoy it, but if you are looking for a second park it is worth it.

The adults will love it due to the food and festivals and the 7 year olds will find parts boring (especially the World Showcase that the adults will love) except for a few attractions and will potentially be tired for the long walks.

Is it worth it? If you have NEVER been. Yes.

To give myself the most bang for my Epcot buck I would change my dinner reservation to one of the Epcot restaurants, solving the shuttling around and time lost in travel problems involved with getting to Ohana.

For $700 I probably would not just add what is basically a half day at Epcot. Go visit Disney Springs, go walk around the Boardwalk area, etc.

while I do love EPCOT I wouldn't pay $700 to miss the best of it which is their fireworks, if you still plan to go keep in mind there are very few rides at EPCOT for your kids, check the height requirement for each before hand and the countries are better at night.

Totally depends on the kids whether they will like it or not. My kids always loved Epcot, even when they were younger than yours. They never found the World Showcase boring. Really depends on what interests them.

A friendly disagreement :goodvibes on rides for your kids. They can ride probably everything in the park at age 7. It would more be a matter of what they wanted to do. The easy/no height check rides include: The Seas with Nemo, Figment, Living with the Land, Gran Fiesta Tour, Spaceship Earth, Frozen Ever After

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. You have given me a lot to think about tonight!! I'm going to work on moving my Ohana reservation first and foremost, as I agree it is a lot to miss the night show and a lot of the park. If I can't find an opening in the next few weeks to move Ohana, I'll probably skip Epcot this time around and do it next time! Thank you again!

I think Epcot will fit nicely into your day. Read up on the attractions and pick your favorites. A touring plan (from the website of the same name) would show you a very good approximation of how much you could get done. I highly recommend it. Also, our 9 and 7 yr old boys have loved Epcot during our last three annual trips. I think they'd even say it's their second favorite park. Have a great time!

If you're not going to be back at WDW for a while, then yes I would not miss out on Epcot. But if you're planning to come back soon, then it makes it easier to pass on spending $700... and save your money for a longer multi-day ticket.

My dds are 7 and love Epcot. They get the show guide and we can spend a day wandering around world showcase getting their passports stamped, doing kidcots and watching all the street shows. That doesn't even include the rides in future world. I doubt your kids will be bored and you may find they want to stay and do more (so you can come back after ohana)

@4boysandme In your original post you left out key information. You did not tell us you only had 2 days prior to a cruise and would need to purchase an expensive ticket.
3 things
I strongly suggest you either focus on WDW or Universal. You can not fully experience either in just 1 day
If you are going to go to Epcot I would definitely eat in WS for dinner and not 'OHana. Illuminations is just a fantastic, not to be missed show at closing
If you can not stay through dinner until close, I would skip Epcot this trip and do a second day at the MK
Good Luck

We actually prefer EPCOT.... there's a lot to do other than just rides there too..

Normally I would suggest HS or AK for your kids because my kids find EPCOTs lack of exciting rides kind of boring. However, because you are doing MK and Univ which are both filled with more excited rides and are kind of exhausting days, you might enjoy the more laid back, calm atmosphere of EPCOT for the day. I would anticipate your in-laws would really enjoy it. Also, I'm not a huge O'Hana fan so I would skip that in favor of one of the restaurants in the WS. They have lots of great options.

Epcot.. yes..worth it IMO.. it is big but ONLY if you walk the WORLD SHOWCASE.. if you stay in the rides section (who does that?).. its not so bad.. ;)

Not sure you can leave your car at Poly all day though.. i thought they simply gave you a 2 hour pass aligned with your dinner reservation. but that may have changed..

It would be worth it for us, because we love Epcot. I would not do Universal though. That is just our personal preference. You could also easily go back to Epcot after your dinner at Ohana, leaving you with a full park day!

Thank you so much! After I posted that I thought of course I can't park at Poly...duh! Love all the transportation suggestions though! "Hopefully," by worth it I guess I just meant we will be spending approx $700 in tickets to have to leave by 4ish...would we see everything? Or on the flipside will my 7 year olds be bored? I have googled it extensively and it seems like Epcot is a lot more exciting than I remember it being as a child. I thought HS would be a good half day choice but looks like many exhibits are closed. I know I am overthinking! But I can't help it! :) :) I am sure my in-laws will love the Flower and Garden Fest but want to make sure the kids would enjoy too. It's our first day at a park so I want everyone to have a great time. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me! Looks like Epcot is a good choice!
My (then 6 year old) DD loved Epcot. It was her favorite park. Even more than Magic Kingdom. That was where she spent all her spending money, at the various worlds.

With 3 seven year olds, I would just do 2 days at MK. That makes eating at 'Ohana super easy.

I agree. You are more likely to need extra time at MK. As I see it, you have a few other options:

  • Don't add an extra day. Go to Disney Springs and O'Hana. Save money and have rest time, which I'm assuming is why you initially planned to have that day free.
  • Go to MK until your ADR, head over to dinner at O'Hana, return to MK for nighttime entertainment and a few more rides. You'd be paying the extra $700 but you'll get more bang for your buck.
  • Cancel O'Hana, put the money toward an extra day on your tickets, spend the entire day at Epcot or MK. This would be my choice because I go to WDW for the parks more than the dining opportunities. I'd plan on counter service meals in park and really maximize my time.
