epcot ? ( who invented the telephone)

while i visted epcot i noticed on the ground what country invented what
i have a question who invented the telephone?? i always thought it was alexander graham bell and he was fron united kingdom (scotland)

but it was under usa as they invented it

so who did ??

You are correct - the telephone was invented almost simulanteously by A-G Bell , and an american inventor; Elisha Gray .

However, Bell did indeed patent his devise first, and there then ensued a long legal battle between the two inventors...which Bell won..........

...sounds like this is still a sore point for our american cousins......

We always have a joke about it when we are in EPCOT as a family especially in the American Adventure show in World show case he he he

This came up on QI a while back. If I remember correctly Bell worked in the patents office and when this one came in decided he could invent it better. Again only going by memory but I think they said he only 'won' the legal battle because the other guy died before it concluded.

think i rember seeing on a program about phone,that a doctor not too sure were from invented it 30 years before bell for his invilided wife around his home. so if wife had any problems she could contact him at any time
