How much would a taxi cost from Epcot to Saratoga?

$15 approx. it's really close, depends on traffic to some degree.

You could also walk to beach club / yacht club or boardwalk (or swan / dolphin) and take their bus to downtown disney then walk to Saratoga from there. Obviously not as efficient . . . but free

While technically accurate, one would think that anyone who wanted to make the trip for free would take the Disney bus direct from Epcot to SSR...?

No way is the walk from the back of Epcot to the front longer than the walk from the back of Epcot to BWV or BCV bus stop plus the walk from DTD over to SSR.

Yeah, but after the fireworks at Epcot the back route eliminates that incredibly maddening long wait for a bus and the almost sure thing you'll be standing on the bus. I've always walked to BWV or BCV and taken the bus from there, especially if I'm in Congress Park. I've always gotten a seat on the bus so the trudge from DTD wasn't bad. I guess everyone has their own method.
