I know you can get to hs from epcot by boat or bus but i am confused as to where i actually catch either one of them to go watch the sw fireworks.

The Epcot bus center is seen at the very top-left of the map below.

Epcot's International Gateway is where you can exit and board the Friendship to DHS.
You can also walk between Epcot's International Gateway and DHS.

All of that is shown on the map, as well.

In my opinion, walking is the fastest way depending on where you are in Epcot. The boats stop at a few different resorts on their way back and forth between the parks which adds some time. If you need to get over to HS quickly, I would walk. If you want to have a more leisurely ride, then take the boat ride because it is a nice ride.

Walking from EPCOT to the Studios is the quickest and in my opinion, the best way. Even at a "regular" walking pace you can be there in around 20 minutes.

If it happens to be 100 degrees, the boat is a welcome break.

We took the boat last summer, and never again. If it's hot out and you're inside the boat and don't get one of the couple of seats outside on the back of the boat, there's zero wind coming in. It was a brutal boat ride that felt like an oven.

We did it that one time and now walk anytime we want to go between the two parks

We sat in the front near the captain. There was a nice breeze from the fan.
