Ok so I saw the lobster roll and some of the desserts and really want to go to BWB. Also DS and DH would probably love a pizza at the pizza window. With this in mind I wanted some help to make sure it isn't bigger headache than it is worth. :) We will arrive at Epcot about 10:30 with FP+ for soarin we thought after that if there is a boat we could walk to the boat take it to the BW eat and look around and take the boat back to Epcot and ride a few more rides then go back for afternoon break before heading back for evening EMH. it will be me, DH, DS11, DD 4 and DS 10 months. Will this be a big hassel they love boat rides. Is there one boat that just goes to BW and back or will we have to ride to multiple resorts before we make it back.

There isn't a parking lot for Epcot on the backside is there so we could just ride the boat to BW before going into Epcot and eat first and get a later FP+ to Soarin? Hope this isn't too confusing. :rolleyes1

. . . multiple resorts, plus Hollywood Studios
. . . so consider the lost time of about 1½-2 hours total
. . . do you really want the eats more than the park time?

. . . sure

You catch the boat right outside of france. Or you could walk - Its not long/far at all. Its not a hassle at all, and rather nice. Personally, I wouldn't do it because with all of the countries / restaurants right inside Epcot to choose from, I'd be happy with that! Plus you could get a lobster roll in MK if thats your main motovation for it. Just a thought!! :)

You can just walk over to the BW. It's only about a 5 minute walk. We do it all the time when we stay there.

The boat is very slow and it could take you about 10-15 minutes or so to get to the BW. I can't remember if the first stop is BW from Epcot.

The lobster rolls at the BW are by far the best I've tasted in Disney. It's more like the type you get in New England. It's not covered in mayo.

One of the many advantages of staying at the Boardwalk is that you're the first one off the boat from Epcot and the last one on. On the flip side, you're the first one ON the boat and have to go through all the other resorts going to and from DHS. But we go to Epcot a lot more so it works for us.

The Friendship boat dock is right outside the International Gateway (between France and UK). The boat ride is short - only about 5 minutes because the Boardwalk is the first stop after leaving Epcot. If the boat is at the Epcot dock you might as well take it since your kids like boat rides. If there's no boat or you decide to walk it will take about 5 minutes to the Boardwalk Bakery which is between ESPN and Flying Fish. Returning to Epcot the BW is the last stop for the boat and you head directly back to Epcot.

Since your kids like boat rides and if you want a break you could take it to DHS and back. It takes about 30 minutes each way. The stops are:
Epcot > Boardwalk > Yacht & Beach Club > Swan & Dolphin > DHS

The return trip is DHS > S&D > Y&BC > Boardwalk Inn > Epcot

Walk.
Unless you have mobility issues. We usually stay at BWI. I'd never wait for the boat, too slow.
Of note, Norway's and France's bakery have similar pastries to Boardwalk Bakery. I'd check them out before making a trip out of the parks.
