I've read the thread on how to book, and this may be a really stupid question...but, gonna ask it anyway!! LOL!

Will my parents need to use a day of their MYW tix to come on an Illuminations cruise with us?

We've got AP's, so no problems there... we're planning on dinner at one of the Epcot resorts, and I'm hoping to surprise all of them with a cruise after dinner...if we board at the Y&BC, how does the ticketing work?

TIA!!

mbb, there are no tickets required for the cruise. You board at the YC and then the boat takes you to a special viewing area under the bridge. Once the fireworks are over, the boat takes you back to the YC (or one of several other docks such as the Boardwalk if you so request). They would only need to use a day from their tickets if they are actually going inside the park prior to the cruise for dinner.

The cruise is a blast -- we're taking MIL this time!

Hope this helps. Have a great trip!

Excellent!

Thanks so much - that makes the planning so much easier. We're planning on an Epcot day with them for the CP, but adding a cruise on top, will make for a really long day for them...

But thinking that a hotel rest day for mom and dad, followed by dinner at Cape May, maybe, and then surprise, let's go see Illuminations! would be really nice:)

...and not have to use another day on their tix is even better;)

Thanks again!

This sounds like a great idea! After the boat leaves the dock, it takes you on a cruise around the EPCOT area resorts before you anchor for the fireworks -- it is a very relaxing end to the day. As an added bonus, they can enjoy the fireworks from a very private spot and then not have to fight the crowds leaving the park.

As as side note, when we did this cruise last time, our captain asked our then 4 year-old dd if she would like to blow out the fireworks. She said yes, so at just the right moment he told her to blow! She blew towards the water just as the globe went out. She truly believed she blew out the fireworks, and talks about it to this day!

Have fun with your surprise!
