we were last over in 2000 for the millenium celebrations, and found the costumes in the tapestry of nations/dreams amazing. does anyone know if this is still running, as its not on the officail website under nightime entertainment

:guilty: bummer!!! was looking forward to. has it been replaced by anything?

~Not a parade, no~

There are alot of new things going on at Epcot.

Soarin is open and I hear it's fantastic! ::yes::

As far as activities, what time of year are you going? I'll be there in October which is Wine and Food Festival time...there will be concerts in "America" and exotic food tasting and wine and beer tasting & Keg tapping ceremonies, etc. I went to Disneyworld .com and got all this information on the special events from there.

Magic Kingdom has Spectro Magic on specific nights...it's alot longer than the orignal parade, and Wishes fireworks is new-and an awesome sight.

~HTH~

We have both a CD and a cassette of the music. Our kids listen to the music from it ALL the time. Our van only can play the cassette, so we hear that when we're driving somewhere. For the longest time our daughter played the CD in her room every night when she went to bed. ::MinnieMo

I always like when Illuminations is over and they play the music from Tapestry of Nations over the speakers around World Showcase as people leave. If I watch Illuminations from the American pavilion I can just about get the entire Tapestry music in before I leave World Showcase area. Tapestry should be brought back in some form for an encore. Tapestry and Illuminations was a great 1-2 punch of entertainment in the evenings.

We have the CD too. I keep hoping that us dissers can organize and protest of sorts by marching in our lime green and Kidcot masks blasting the music from a portable player....

I was at WDW last february and asked a cm manager at Epcot's mouse gear what happened to the Tappestry parades. Her reponse was that the parade was always intended as a limited time attraction. It proved so popular that they kept it longer than originally planned. However, for budget reasons only they had to discontinue it. Thats all the info that she could give me. In the interest of guest feedback, I requested that they bring it back.

that gives me an idea;
if you love tapesrty of nations, request a comeback on your next vacation. if enough people do this, they may look into it

Yes, sadly it is gone. I love Disney in general, but that parade just took my breath away every time I saw it!

I loved that parade. It has been gone for a few years now, however the 2005 Unofficial Guide still mentions it - I don't know why people like that guide so much - there are so many incorrect things in it.

jennsuko, where does the 2005 Guide mention Tapestry? I don't see it in the index, and there's nothing in the Live Entertainment section. We may have a stray sentence in there somewhere. Drop me a line with the page number of anything you think is incorrect, and I'll make sure it's listed on our updates page: len@touringplans.com.

Thanks,

Len

We really liked Tapestry of Nations/Tapestry of Dreams. It was a very beautiful parade. I know when it began, we had heard it was just for one year. So any time after that was more than we expected.

The last time few times we saw that parade, it was very sad. Even though CMs were trying to keep a clear path for walkers out of the way of the parade, people were paying no attention and practically walking into the performers. I don't know how people could not realize a parade was going on, but the last time we watched, the walkers outnumbered the watchers.
That was very sad to see because it was one of our favorite parades of all times. I felt really bad for the performers, who knew that a lot of people were not watching them and had the hard task of dancing while wearing costumes that extended farther than their bodies and had to watch out for people who were not watching out for them.

I really do miss Tapestry of Dreams. What a great pre-show to Illuminations that was. It sort of made the whole night-time celebration an hour long instead of the few minutes of Illuminations.

The soundtrack is phenominal and I wish they would include it in the Illuminations pre-show music lineup that they play nightly.

It could be tough...but normally , on slow days, the few who were watching the parade made up for the walkers. In any parade, the performers feed of the energy of the crowd. It is team work!! As long as there was some energy to work with...the show could go on!! :)

It was my favorite parade too - even just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. It was so emotional.

I seem to remember one of the reasons it was discontinued was the injuries done to the CMs due to the massive costumes. No matter how well they are made, they can still do damage to your back.

No, the injuries were far and few. It definitly would not have been reason to cancel it. The budget was only for a year, then they found a way to extend it and make it different then their "millium celebration". But, it ended as all good things do. We do hope they will bring it back. There are rumors.

As for the music..I love it. It means much to me!!

Thanks for sharing. That was a definate experience. I agree with your other post that the performers and the crowd together made that parade. I have very happy memeories of very gentle performers "dancing" with my DD in her wheelchair.
