Hi all, looking for tips to best utilize the skyliner leaving Epcot. At least one night we would like to stay and watch Luminous, then head back to riviera. I hear that the line for the skyliner is ridiculous at closing, how long would you suggest hanging back before hitting the line? I suppose we could visit a store or find a bench to sit on to wait it out. Thank you

I was at Epcot a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night...stayed for Luminous and exited by the Skyliner (I stayed at the Dolphin, so was able to walk).

I didn't rush out of Epcot...took my time walking and by the time I got out and saw the line for the Skyliner I will say I was taken aback at how long it was. It continuously loads, so it probably moves at a fair speed, but not sure how much time you'd have to spend elsewhere before exiting Epcot for that line to go down.

The line can be extremely long that’s for sure. It can easily take 45-60 mins after the fireworks for the line to start to reduce. You may wish to either join the line or, find a bench near the Skyliner.

We watched from near the bridge to Future World, wandered back slowly, stopped to take pics and then waited about 20 mins to board.

That being said, we’d still choose this over waiting for a bus every single time!!

Line was 20 min long when we left half-way through Harmonious a year or so ago. I bet it would have been at least twice as long if we had waited until the end. Ironically, it was the longest line we had stayed in that day, inluding a rope drop for Remy.

When you walk out gateway, you will see a huge line wrapping around station, down the ramp, around the corner and back. The line will start heading up the top of the hill where it meets the bridge to Boardwalk and down the hill to Beach Club. When you hit the top of the hill by the bridge, it’s approximately a 20 minute wait from that point.
What makes the wait time run smoothly is, keep your party together, have your double stroller folded and enter the cabin in which you were assigned, and remain seated. You will ride with another party, just like a bus and the monorail. The only difference is you are guaranteed a seat. The above is what keeps the line moving. The Skyliner moves more people per hour than any other form of transportation on property.
If you just don’t feel like waiting, Creations is open till 10pm, it’s a bit busy for about a half hour but the crowd thins out. It’s a good time to pickup the souvenirs you were looking at. The checkout line can get long but it moves pretty quick and there is mobile checkout.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way around a park dump. Just thousand of people at one time all heading in the same direction.
A nice bench, with a dessert from the patisserie in France watching the mobs all head for the exits is another great way to spend an hour or so. What you will also see Epcot in all its glory. Very few people left, the music still playing and the lights on.

Might add a couple things to what has been posted:
A wait is a wait, either in line or on a bench - if in line that time gets you out quicker than delaying.
If you happen to go on an evening with EEH - it might help absorb that initial "mob".

It does. There still is a pretty good line. The other thing to remember is if you are at DVC extra Magic hour, the Skyliner will stop taking passengers past their closing time to everywhere but Riv. If you get on you have to exit at Riv. they will not let you stay on. The only stations maned is Riv.
That’s the way i always looked at it, a wait is a wait but if you want to hang around, just some things you can do.
