I think I know the answer on this one...but...please advice...

If we have friends meeting us for dinner at an Epcot restaurant for our evening meal...do they have to have a park pass just to enter the park and get to a restaurant???

I don't think they will be at Epcot this day...and are not doing the park hopper option to save some money...

I am hoping they can join us...but am guessing they still need a park pass even to enter to get to a restaurant??? They really would be doing NOTHING else there that night.

THANKS!!

They will need a park ticket to enter EPCOT, even if only for dining at a restaurant.

Can you plan a meal in one of the resort restaurants instead?

They will need a park pass to enter Epcot, even if it's just for dinner. They would have to add park hopper or use an additional "day" to enter the park.

There are several restaurants in the Epcot area that you could eat at, instead. See if anything at Beach Club, Yacht Club or Boardwalk floats your boat.

They will need park admission. If they get hoppers than they could easily join you. If they do not have hoppers, they will have to plan that day as their Epcot day.

You can't use an additional day of a ticket to enter a second park in one day. You must have the hopper option to visit more than one park in one day.

This is correct. You cannot use another ticket to enter a second park for the day without the hopper option.
For if this was the case everyone would do it, because another day ticket is like $3 vs hopper which is like $50.....Disney won't allow that, they would lose to much money.

Perhaps you could change your dinner to somewhere on the Boardwalk, or YC/BC?
