Epcot Questions

Me and Mrs Badger are currently planning our trip and park days using touring plans.

We are staying at CBR and have a reservation for breakfast at Akershus and we are wondering if we should gain entry into Epcot via the international gateway or the main entrance? Looking at the map of Epcot is the international gateway entrance only via the "Beach Club" ?

What would be our best option? Also why do they offer FP+ for illuminations? i presumed it was a case of find a spot to view it and away you go?

Akershus is a fairly easy walk from the main entrance. The international gateway may be a bit closer, but getting to the international gateway would be the problem. To get to the international gateway you would need to take a bus to Hollywood Studios and then a boat from the Studios over to the international gateway, with numerous stops in between. You could take a taxi or drive(if you have a car) over to the Beach club or Boardwalk, but by the time you walk from there or take a boat, any time saved would be lost. I would definitely say main entrance is your best shot.

Just a little more information if your not familiar with the international gateway. International gateway has no parking. It is accessible by walkway and friendship boat only. It is a very convenient way to enter Epcot from the Boardwalk area, Yacht and Beach clubs, and the Swan and Dolphin. The boat that serves it also serves the Hollywood studios park, but as I said above it stops at most of the above hotels along the way. Hope you have a great trip.

as the previous poster noted, you're better off accessing epcot via the main entrance, since the bus from CBR will drop you off very close to that entrance...

even if you drive there, it's much more convenient accessing epcot via the main entrance

There is no advantage in going via IG in fact it's more trouble as you need to get there.

You would need to pay to valet park at BC if you wanted to park there all day. This trip they are being a lot stricter with access to the resorts - I had a struggle at BW yesterday when I went to say goodbye to some friends who where leaving.

Think there is some public parking across the road from the boardwalk hotel (or there used to be). Wouldn't save u anytime using that entrance unless your staying on the boardwalk. What I would say it's well worth using that gi entrance for ambience before and after

IG is definitely the best place to enter for Akershus if you have easy access to it by staying at one of the Epcot resort area hotels. But in your case it would just be a parking hassle. So in a way, you're both right!!
