Epcot Question

I also posted this in the DISign orum but thought maybe I could get some help here.

I was going to steer away from the passpot books but they are so darn cute and I think my girls would love to fill them so I've decided to make some.

I have a few questions though. Would 2 pages be enough for each country? Like the stamp page and the message page? Are the other blank pages just for pics? Also, about how long does it take to get through all the countries? I'm thinking my 1/2 day at Epcot may need to be changed to a full day now.

Thanks!

You did not say the ages of your girls, but since my DD was 5, Epcot has been her number one favorite park!! Her least favorite is MK since it is enough like DL where we go kind of all the time, it is just like home, so not vacationish enough for her. That is her explanation.

I have never done the Passports because I am cheap....but we always get the free mask to take around the countries. At each station the wooden handle is stamped and a little construction paper cutout is attatched to the mask. In each country the kids also get to work on coloring their masks as well, so sucks up some more time. In China and Japan, the CM will write your child's name in their language. So, to answer your actual question, 2 pages is plenty.

If all we are really doing is the kidcot passport stops, we could probably do it in 2.5-3 hours, but we never do just that. We have snacks, we look in the stores, see the movies, watch the candy lady....etc.

My DD and I can spend an hour in the Japan store alone!!!!

So, depending on your time in WDW, I would give EPcot far more than a half day. WS doesn't open until 11 AM, so maybe catch another park EMH, then zip over to EPcot for the rest of the day?

We stay at the BC, and almost always end up at EP some time on every day of our visit!!! So, a bit biased.

Yes, Epcot is delightful...give yourself plenty of time to enjoy and explore! We love coloring a mask and collecting a charm in each country on the mask...you can also have the handle of your mask stamped as well. We have never gotten to the passports because the masks are so much fun. However, I would say 2 pages is not enough...ther are some cute designs on the Creative DISign board...the cms in each country will give a stamp and write something in their native language too. We also enjoy the attractions at Future World (don't forget about Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Soarin', Figment, Seas with Nemo, and all of the other good stuff Epcot has to offer)

My girls will be almost 8 and almost 5. I have to do 2 parks in one day so I was thinking Epcot and something. Couldn't decide which other. I have to make up my mind about which will be 1/2 days. I have planned MK for 2 days but the second one I want to do BBB and MNSSHP so I didn't want to plan anything else. I guess we'll have to figure it out before we go but we have a year so we've got time.

I made our passport books. Not very spendy at all!

My kids were 8 and 6 our last trip and we spent 7 hours in World Showcase and didn't even do the Kim Possible thing or have a sit down meal. I'm too impatient to do passports. It takes forever for the people to fill out the pages, especially with two kids. My kids are happy enough to do the masks. If pretty much all you do is get the passports stamped/signed, you can probably do WS in about 3 hours, but there is so much to explore and so many characters to meet and so much food to try and so many shops to browse...

I used to do the passbooks every time I went. I think I was 12 the first time and then I think I stopped doing them a few years ago. I think they are fun to do and you'd probably want to give yourself more than just a 1/2 day at EPCOT. I find I end up spending the most time there because I love the countries so much. Plus the rides in future world are fun also.

I made my DD a passport book (also a HUGE thread on the DISigners board) and I would be happy to send it to you. I actually modeled it after our actual passports and it is (IMHO) way cuter than the ones you can buy!

Here is the thread where I posted the pages.

Someone has uploaded it I believe, but I am happy to email you the file directly if you PM me your email addy. There is even a page to personalize with your daughters' pictures. This year I will be making one for DD, but I am on the fence for DS. He will be turning 9 months during our trip. . . maybe not the target age- LOL! :lmao:

I already have the files all saved and the card stock ready to go. I was just wondering if I'd need more than 1/2 a day to get them filled. I am obsessed with the DISigner boards. Thanks though!

Great. I am glad someone was able to send them out to you. :thumbsup2 I was taking a break from DISigning for maternity. I just posted the updated blank information page for 2009 and 2010, if you want it. To what blank pages are referring? If it was the ones I made, they were to even out the layout and I used one for journaling in DD's passport. On hers I also had a resort page for POFQ instead of the generic one I posted with the four park icons. I guess you could substitute whatever you want, but if you add the personalized photo page, you will be left with blanks somewhere. Hmm, I suppose you could put a Future World page with rides to check off or something like that. Anyway, I hope that helps. ;)

As to time. . . well, I made one for DD and we went around getting signatures of lots of characters, doing the Kidcot stations (which she LOVED at barely 3 and wants to do again this year), and briefly exploring the countries (I highly recommend trying on kimonos in Japan- so fun!!!) before our dinner reservation at Akershus. That took us in the World Showcase from about noon until 6:30. After dinner we rode the Malstrom and the ride in Mexico and then grabbed seats for Illuminations. So I would say if you are interested in doing Future World also, you need a full day. Or maybe more if you can squeeze it in. We are a family of culture oriented semi nerdly types (I am a chemist, DH is a nuclear Physicist). We LOVE Epcot and have since we were little. Our daughter also loved it which surprised us. This year we are planning 2 days at MK and EP and one each at the other parks then a bonus day to hit what we feel we missed.
