Epcot Question

Is Epcot too grown up for toddlers? I have never been to Epcot on my previous Disney trips and I'm not sure if this is right place for the ages of my nieces. They will be 4, a week away from 3 and 18 months. I don't want them to be bored since this trip is all about them. I have been reading travel books about Epcot, etc. but I thought I would ask for more advice from people who have taken their toddlers there.

We enjoyed Epcot with toddlers, but I've never done a trip that is "all about my kids." We took ours at 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 then again and 4 and 5 and at 6 and 7. At 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 Epcot was about Mom and Dad getting a few good meals. They rode Imagination, enjoyed the Living Seas, thought Spaceship Earth was cool and rode Maelstrom. Unfortunately, the big hit in Epcot at that age was Rio de Tiempo. We'd park hop in the evenings, pushing them around in the stroller. They enjoyed the scenery and were tired from their more toddleresqe morning in Fantasyland or Animal Kingdom.

My kids love the KidCot stations in Epcot, collecting the charms for their masks and coloring with markers. They also loved running around and exploring Innoventions; maybe they were happy to be out of the stroller! The Living Seas is neat, once you get past the boring-for-kids movie. My little girl also loves that we can usually find a princess or two around the World Showcase (and Pooh and friends in England). There are bands that play too that the kids like to listen and dance to while DH and I can sit down and have a beer. Though it's not specifically geared toward toddlers and little kids, my two are quite happy there.

I think they will do fine. You didn't mention when you are going, but when we were there in May, there were lots of little playgrounds scattered around Epcot. I'm not sure if they were permanent or part of the flower and garden festival, but they had standard climbing srtuctures, musical activities, a fairy garden, and even a live butterfly garden. If it's still there, I'm sure they would love it.

Plus, I agree with the other poster about much shorter lines for Pooh and crew in "England" than MK.

My son LOVED EPCOT last year (he was 3.5). The Living Seas was closed when we were there last year, but I know he'll love it when we go back this year. I suspect it will be his new favorite.

Here's what my son loved:
- Meeting the characters (no lines like at MK!)
- the Figment ride
- Soarin'
- Living with the Land
- Spaceship Earth
- The Mexico boat ride
- The Norway boat ride
- watching the fountains
- the train set (Germany, I think?)

I skipped Honey, I Shrunk because I thought it would be too scary. I also skipped Energy--he'd like the dinosaurs, but I didn't think it was worth sitting through the 20 minute movie last year. We'll try it this year (he'll be 4.5 when we go back).

I've heard good things about the kidcot stations, but my son isn't into crafts that much so we skipped it.

He also loved playing around with the stuff at Innoventions and in the area after the Figment ride. He loves music and loved to make music with his hands and feet in the sounds area.

Our son was 2.5 when we took him last year and he loved it!

We took him on Spaceship Earth, Figment and the Mexico boat ride. Living Seas was closed, but I think most kids, mine included, would love that. And he loved what he saw of IllumiNations (he fell asleep halfway through). lol I think the Nemo attraction will be opening up in August, as well?

Both my kids, DS-6 and DD-2 LOVE Epcot. I think they actually like it 2nd best, after the MK of course! They have both been going since they were babies and it's DH and my fave park so that could have something to do with it.

They find a lot to do. Like already mentioned, the Kidcot stations are fun for them. They have also been asked to perform with a Mariachi (sp?) band, been in street plays and quite a few other experiences that they normally wouldn't have come across. DD loves checking out the insects in Innoventions in a small crawling tunnel, both liked making paper from pulp, making plastic robots. They also like seeing the different toys in World Showcase that kids play with around the globe.

DS isn't a toddler anymore so he really enjoys meeting the CMs from other countries and of course riding TT and Soarin. While he rides M:S, DD is playing in a huge play area at the end of the ride. They also have butterfly gardens, more of Nemo is coming soon and fun things to do at the FW attractions.

My kids loved theliving seas turtle talk with Crush, and the Nemo stuff! They were 10mos.-5 years Plus the Epcot Kid Stops where you can make a mask!
You can also put the educational aspect to a simple use, by saying what letter does Mexico start with? and things like that.
the quite tall 3 year old loved misson space!
