Epcot needs...

I'm far from an Imagineer, I'm simply a "creative." I go to Disney every year and my family's dinner discussions usually revolve around Disney. We talk about restaurants we'd like to try, rattle off ideas and news, list our favorite rides and sometimes talk about hypotheticals. We like to say what we'd like to see at each park.

For me, I think I have an idea for EPCOT that would work. Of course, I'd like to see another country added to the WS. I'd love to see it keep expanding. But Future World and WS feel like two completely different parks - there's no real cohesion or meshing together. I think Future World should serve as an "introduction" to the world showcase. It'd be fun to have FW be a "terminal" or a "travel agency" of sorts before "backpacking around the World." I've always said that the Living with the Land complex feels like an airport terminal. This could be like a food court at an airport. You can add more QS spots inside. Soarin' would be your "airport." The film would be remastered and re-done to fly through each country Around the World.

The seas with Nemo and Friends could be an "Australia" area in EPCOT. I know it wouldn't be in the World Showcase, but it's still in EPCOT and would expand that cohesion between WS and FW.

Ditch Journey into Imagination. I'm sorry - I know everyone loves it, but you can paint those gorgeous pyramids and turn them into... pyramids. Journey into Imagination can become the Egypt pavilion.

I kind of like FW East. I think it deals with the future and the past of the world. You can go to Space, you can go back and visit the dinosaurs and you can test drive the "hottest new cars." The theming KIND OF works. I think within Ellen's adventure they can talk about sustainabilty, etc. to tie in EPCOT's "roots." But, if you must change FW East, here's what I'd do...

Future World East would be all about Florida. Sure, EPCOT is all about the World, but let's not forget Disney's roots - Florida. Mission Space will become a tribute to the Kennedy Space Center. You can train like an astronaut and they could feature pieces from the real Kennedy Space Center. Test Track? Test Track would be rebranded as Daytona. I know this is a HUGE long shot (given the recent renovation, but we're speaking hypothetically.) I think this would be cool, especially being that they got rid of the Richard Petty Experience. You can design your own race car and see how it would do on the track.

As for Ellen's, well, I'm not sure. Maybe do something revolving around the swamp lands or the Florida Keys.

That old restaurant near FW East could be transformed into a Disney museum. It could show how Walt discovered the land and it was turned into Walt Disney World.

I think this would be really cool. You'd have your airport that you'd visit before "backpacking around the world." Having Egypt and Australia would be a nice tie in and expand the World Showcase... And having Florida would give tourists a little history lesson on the state itself. Now, everything would literally revolve around Spaceship Earth.

I like that STEM emphasis.
Even if they used a building with a few interactive exhibits and host occasional First Lego League (http://www.firstlegoleague.org) and other robotics competitions.
If they started making some of FW a partial "Wide World of Science" they might have an easier time getting more corporate sponsorships with Disney actively marketing to a STEM youth crowd.

I think the emphasis should be on a STEM background as that technically is what FW is modeled after. When I think of Epcot, I think of how can science help society progress. By enhancing the overall feeling of STEM in the park, I think that will help with the country's decline in the current STEM majors. Epcot would be a fun way to show what one can do with science and how everything in life is based on science. I personally love Living with the Land because I think the whole sustainable farming is a big thing in the future. I like the Universe of Energy because it shows other ways to get the energy we need (I'm a chemical engineer in the oil industry, so I know we need to find new sources). I think that would be a good attraction to add or exhibit to show all possible new ways to generate energy. For example, looking at the different ways to use fuel cells, get biodiesel from algae, and other alternatives. I could go on, but I think Epcot should try to focus more on generating interest in STEM majors.

I overheard an early morning meeting with some official looking Disney folks. They were taking about the Time-Wheel thing in front of theLand in FW and and mentioned an overhaul to match some "new aesthetic" . Dunno what that might be but some of that area is looking very dated.

You know I love turning Future World into Florida Adventure and then an entryway to the World...rebranding Test Track and Mission Space is brilliant - you could do the same with Soarin' with a "Fly over Florida" and Living with the Seas (Oceans)...and then creating new attractions dealing with the Everglades (boat ride through the swamp), the beaches, Key West and/or Duval Street, etc, the Walt Disney museum (as mentioned), etc...moving some footprint of WS to the Future Side to make a full circle of the World (maybe moving the Spaceship back as the start point right in front of the water - that might be a royal pain:)...

You say you want Epcot to update but when they do you get Mission Space or Journey into YOUR Imagination. Test Track and Nemo are ok but we lost 3 of the top 10 Disney rides of all time that were all in Epcot. "Some Jerk With A Camera" does a good show on youtube, he did an episode on Epcot which pretty much sums everything up I feel about it. That being said Epcot gets beat up on a lot but it's still one of my favorite things in the world to experience and hopefully I'll see it every year until I can't go anymore.

I think the France Pavilion in World Showcase can have two sections dedicated to Disney films that take place in France. The first area can be themed to Ratatouille complete with a ride similar to the one in Disneyland Paris. With a restaurant, themed after Chef Gusteau's restaurant. With a meet and greets area, and a shop where you can buy merchandise related to the film and cook books for a great meal

The second part in the France Pavilion, can be an area based on The Aristocats. One area has an indoor show that plays a few times a day. And a building resembling, the home where Duchess and her kittens live at with their owner. The show can be educational about French art and French music. The show can be taught by Duchess and her three kittens Toulouse,Marie, and Berlioz. Duchess and Marie and Berlioz educate guests about music in France and famous composers while the art section is hosted by Toulouse who can also be seen painting his own art and his own portraits of various Disney characters. Next to the show area, is a gift shop dedicated to Aristocats merchandise. And the building where Duchess and her kittens live can be a meet and greet area once you go inside. You might also find Edgar The Butler at certain times of the day trying to cause trouble with the cats again. My idea is that this area will be opened in 2020 for the film's 50th Anniversary. You can also find an ice cream shop, and a place that sells French Milk.

Interesting article from Theme Park Tourist:

I always thought that it needed more rides in the countries. I think it's weird that only the first two countries (going clockwise) have rides. I'm sure someone could think of a cool ride for several of the other countries. How about a Venetian gondola boat ride for Italy?

And another ride themed after Pinocchio.
