Has anyone heard about this? On one of the Facebook pages I am a member of, a man purporting to be a retired monorail pilot posted that his buddies were called back to run the EPCOT route starting next week. Apparently the monorail pilot aspect is true, so....🤔 Thoughts?

It’s really a shame that you can’t walk through epcot from a boardwalk hotel to take the monorail to MK anymore.

I sure hope this is true! One of the reasons we bought DVC at Boardwalk... “access” to three parks. (Albeit one is a bit of a jaunt, but it’s a jaunt with lots of fun stuff along the way!)

Well if things stay the same and the Monorail opens up, you cannot do that till after 2:00 pm. Park hopping isn’t allowed till after 2:00 pm. You have to enter Epcot to get to the Monorail in the front of the park from a BW area hotel.

I would love for this to be true! I’m not trying to get my hopes up for anything right now. That way if things don’t open I’m not too disappointed, but if they do, it’s an added bonus!

I guess the new policy for SkyLiner extends to monorails. They were removing the plastic dividers on transport so I guess this means Disney has enough monorails to maintain basic guest transport for MK Route and then move the other monorails back to the Epcot line.

Anybody else hoping they 50th Anniversary wrap design on exterior monorails to Celebrate? And a design for resort Bus too!

Let the Party begin on October 1st
Can not wait

Yeeeees. You’re right about this and I’ll need to remember!!

The simple solution to that would be to do away with the 2:00 pm park hopping restrictions. We pay extra to hop, let us hop.

That would negate the park pass system in effect, and Chapek has indicated the park pass system is here to stay, so I think the 2:00 hopping restriction likely is as well.

the fix for that would be that you would still have to go to your reserved park first.
Yeah but if all you have to do is tap into the IG at Epcot first thing in the morning (when it gets back to normal hours), and then skyline or boat over to hollywood, or park at epcot, tap in, and then monorail over to MK, that’s the end of the reservation system as a means for controlling which parks people are in and predicting where they will be for staffing purposes.

Would be great if they could re-open the Epcot monorail. Rumor was they were going to open it back in April after they finished the refurbishment and even ran some test runs down the Epcot monorail line, but the reason they did not re-open is because they could not properly physically distance both monorail lines at the TTC. Now that those rules are more relaxed, it seems feasible that they could re-open both.

Anybody seeing/hearing any more on this? I really hope they bring back Epcot Monorail by 50th anniversary…

I think it will, based on conversations with the monorail cast members. They said it is essentially just a staffing issue right now. That, and the line has to go through inspections before it can start running with guests.
