Epcot, MGM or divied and concoure?

We (me, DH, DS 8 and DD 6) will be going to WDW in Oct for 2 days. MK is a given but the second day? My DS would realy enjoy Epcot since he loves science and travel (He REALY wants to got Italy) but I don't know if DD would get that much out of Epcot. She would rather meet charaters. Although Epcot seems to have a lot of places to meet charaters I don't know if she would rather go to MGM and do the whole playhouse disney thing. (She spends her mornings watch playhouse disney before school) Any thoughts?

MGM is not that huge of a park. I think you could easily do MGM in the morning until maybe 2ish and then go to Epcot for the rest of the day...since it is only a short boat ride away you wouldn't be wasting much time. Or if DS is bored maybe DH can take your son to Epcot sooner and meet up there. DD would probably not be as interested in Epcot.

My DD6 did not like MGM much. We did B and the B show, Playhouse Disney and that was fine, but she didn't like Voyage of the Little Mermaid (dark, loud, wet).

She loved Epcot. We saw tons of characters there between the bus caravan and the ones just out and about. We did the Storybook breakfast, so she saw Aurora, Belle, Snow White, Jasmin and Mulan there. We also ended up seeing Pooh,Aladdin and Mushu at World Showcase, as well as the characters from the bus: Pinochio, Gepetto, Max, Goofy, and I can't remember who else. Astronauts Mickey and Goofy were outside the Mission Space ride (or whatever it's called). My DD really liked doing the masks/passports and having the CMs at each country write her name in their language. The girl from Canada even had her name. Her mask is still on her bulletin board in her room.

I agree with hitting both parks starting with MGM in the am and moving over to Epcot via the Friendship boat in the afternoon. The boat ride would be some nice downtime for the kids and it's a lot more interesting than taking a bus! Also, if your DD is interested in meeting characters, you could take her to the Character Connection in Future World at Epcot.
