Can someone give me their opinion of Mexico's food? We have really good Mexican were we live. Just seeing if it is really good.

It's okay. I think the atmosphere is beautiful and the food is decent. It is Disnified Mexican. It is reminiscent of Chi-Chi's from back in the day.

I think that my local Mexican places have better food quality and much more authenticity, as there is a high migrant worker population due to the orchards and farms in the area. I go there for Mexican

I'd go there for atmosphere over food. (But the food isn't bad. It just isn't amazing.)

I have had very good food at both San Angel and La Hacienda. It is not TexMex, so depending on what your individual likes and dislikes are.... you'll either like it or not. I have found the CM to be very well informed about food, drinks, tequilas, etc. Beautiful ambience at both restaurants. I have enjoyed both venues.

Atmosphere is fun like with pretty much any Disney restaurant.
Food was meh.
I think Chi-Chi's was actually way better than San Angel Inn.

I like the atmosphere at San Angel Inn. It's especially nice (and dark) when it's hot outside.

We did not think the food was great at all, but expected that going in. It's just "meh".

My DH loves Cava de Tequila. He likes good tequilas! We racked up quite a tab there a couple years ago with a couple friends one evening! Easy to do!

We love La Hacienda's Parrillada de Mar for 2--shrimp, fish, scallops, and veggies. Everything on it was good, but the corn was outstanding. We also love La Cava de Tequila. It is a great place to get a margarita or tequila to sip and a snack.

La Hacienda has really good food. I haven't eaten at San Angel Inn in quite a while, so I can't say how good it is now.

What type of snacks does La Cava Del Tequila have? They only list drinks on the WDW website. My husband was very sad I wasn't able to find some mexican food that we'd enjoy. We're from Southern California, so we always go to Tortilla Jo's at Downtown Disney and wanted to have something similar on our WDW trip but I can't find anything similar at any of the parks (based on the online menus). I figured we'd have tacos in Epcot's Mexico, but that's as close as we get.

Another must-eat for us at Disneyland is the chimichangas. Do they have those at WDW anywhere?

Never ate at San Angel Inn, but really enjoyed La Hacienda across the way. Also love sitting in La Cava for margaritas and the dip trio! The atmosphere can't be beat.

Re: my post above—they have a dip trio of guac, salsa and queso. The queso has great heat and the salsa is deliciously smoky. It's a HUGE portion for $16 and they'll bring you as many chips as you want. I share with my BFF as a light meal replacement and we've never come close to finishing all three dips.

Sadly no chimichangas at WDW. That’s a DL original.

While it isn't a popular opinion, we've had good experiences at San Angel Inn (it's one of my husband's musts). Now, my favorite Mexican restaurant is in Disney Springs, Frontera Cocina...love it!

If you enjoy interior Mexican food, you're going to be sorely disappointed in what the Mexico Pavilion has to offer. Frontera Cocina is probably the best "true" Mexican offering on property, and even then I'm sad Rick Bayless went with this menu versus a more full menu.

Anyway. San Angel Inn is going to be more true-to-interior style with molé - but it's dumbed down, and the Taco al Pastor were quite possibly the worst I've ever had in my life. Hacienda offers quite a bit more in the way of mariscos. Cantina is Taco Bell trying to be fancy.

I live in Texas, so I'm pretty well-versed on Mexican & Tex-Mex. I've only gone to these restaurants when invited. The only food I get in Mexico now is queso and salsa at Cava. If you have good interior Mexican and Tex-Mex where you're at, don't waste your money at any of the Mexico restaurants.

La Cava serves only chips, guac, queso and salsa but it's good stuff. you can get each individually or order a combo of all of them.

Same here, and I agree about La Hacienda.

Yesss! We LOVE this as a meal replacement...and as several others have said, it has great atmosphere and margaritas. :)

I have not had La Hacienda, but as previous posters have mentioned, margaritas/drinks at La Cava are fantastic. Food at San Angel Inn is not terrible, but I also agree the ambience can't be beat. If you are looking for Tex-mex, it is most definitely not that. So it just depends on what experience you want really...it is a great place to sit down for atmosphere in the a/c. And the food isn't bad IMO; it just isn't what some people may want if they are used to tex mex...
