EPCOT...I love it but ...

My idea for Epcot would be a reincarnation of Cranium Command but with cartoon figures instead of actors. That way, it wouldn't date as fast as the original one did and the message would still be the same - take care of your body and your body will take of you.

A new country would be great and one that has been in the news quite recently and will be again in 2016 is Brazil. And, please, don't start with tour groups.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the WALL-E idea!!!

Epcot really needs new attractions! I don't care what it is, just DO something! This is why Soarin' lines are such an issue. I also LOVE the idea of Anna and Elsa in Norway. But not everyone has little girls who love it. If they do Anna and Elsa, it needs to provide a one of kind experience (kind of like walking into Mexico) that everyone can relate to.

A new country of any kind would be a breath of fresh air! How about something related to the movie "Up"? South America?

I love the World Showcase, and when I was a kid the Future World was really cool, and I would love for my daughter to see it like I saw it, but it is just not updated enough. I don't mind keeping the old, but they can't continue to make ticket prices go up, up, up, and not provide the big attractions like Soarin'.

On the podcast awhile back, I thought I heard something about them hiring some creative type to oversee Epcot, so the speculation is that they may be planning to do something.

Good idea.

OR

The new Pixar movie Inside Out, which takes us inside the mind of a tween girl, with each facet of her emotions played by different characters. Bring that to life in Cranium Command's old spot. It would be awesome!

The film’s real protagonist is Joy (voiced by an effervescent Amy Poehler), one of five emotions who steer Riley through life via a control center in her mind that’s akin to the bridge from the Starship Enterprise. Joy and her cohorts — including Fear (Bill Hader), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Anger (Lewis Black), and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) — all work together to keep Riley emotionally balanced.

I can't wait to see this movie, Lewis Black is playing Anger!!!!

EPCOT needs those shade sails (or whatever you call them) in the World Showcase. Like the ones they put up in Future World.

These:

I don't think it would take away from anything.

it needs more attractions . The most likely place is obviously in Future World . Of the following options which do you like best as possible additions to EPCOT ?
a - Wonders of Life Pavilion reopened with a combination of new and
upgraded attractions
b- Imagination Pavilion re-energized with a new 3D film plus return to
retro Figment attraction including a Figment and Dreamfinder M&G
and an additional attraction for the dormant upstairs area ...something
almost anything here would be an appreciated...lol
c- a new country for World Showcase (perhaps Greece , Russia , or
India)
d- none of the above...EPCOT is just fine as is

I approve. :worship:

new countries already.
And some new exhibits in Future World.

Poor, sad Epcot... it needs some invigorating besides Frozen!

For us, Epcot is the least appealing park right now. As my kids put it, there is a lot of walking for very few rides ;)

I think my husband and I would enjoy it if we were on a couples trip, but with the kids, we are skipping it for the time being.

Once they put the Frozen ride in, I guess we'll go back and see how that turned out.

As for adding another country, how about Brazil, something southern hemisphere for a change? There could be some kind of Amazonian rain forest type ride. As for Soarin, I thought plans were in the works for a new film with flyovers of the WDW and DL, or has that been filed into the erroneous rumor bin? pixiedust:

I remember reading rumors of a Brazil pavilion here, maybe a couple of years ago? It would be something different, and I thought at the time of the rumors that they could put in a Churrascuria (sp?) "meat on skewers" restauirant to take some pressure off Ohana.

I'm really hoping for a new Soarin' Around the World with random mix-and-match scenes like Star Tours, where you never know which sequences you'll get.

Re-opening Wonders of Life is a great idea as well. I thought it would be fun if they re-imagined Body Wars with a Phineas & Ferb spin - there's an episode of the series where they go all Innerspace on their older sister, it would play off well.

I am 110% on board with anything involving Phineas & Ferb!

I also love the idea of a wall-e ride in epcot (future world only!)! I know these projects take time, but epcot has the space to re-vamp! With universal's HP 'forbidden journey,' heck even the amazing spiderman ride is miles ahead of some of epcots current rides (thinking ellen's energy and captain eo) Disney has the space, gut the current theaters and rid of the tired attractions and put some fresh attractions in, even if they are 'disney movie' inspired.

I honestly love world showcase for what it is, future world is what needs the work, though I LOVED the tapestry of nations parade when they had it. I am okay with keeping world showcase less disney, more discovery..not sure if there is space for more countries, but if there was, my vote would be for south american country.
Chile: Easter Island or the marble caves
Colombia: Cano cristales River
Peru: Machu Picchu
Imagine Disney recreating some of that beauty??? Awesome.

DS keeps commenting that they should build a Big Hero 6 ride in Future World similar to the Ninja Turtle Shell Shock ride at Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America (he loves the ride). Instead, you would lay on the back of Baymax as you soar through the air, being able to twist side-to-side. It would be cool, and something totally "new" for Disney. For those who don't know the Ninja Turtles ride, here's a link to Nick Universe's page.

Love it but the food is really bad.
FW is really outdated.
and, please for the love of god, make them get rid of those hideous memory stones. BRING BACK THE FLOWERS.

I really think DHS needs more love than Epcot to be honest. I think we'll see a major revamp there sooner than Epcot -- TSMM is expanding, the park is getting a new name, some attractions have closed (making room for new) and with the new SW film due in December I think we'll see a major SW expansion between Indy and Star Tours as has been rumored.

Epcot has the Frozen ride coming and also the Soarin' expansion (yeh!) and new film (wasn't that announced recently?). I think a new country would be last on Disney's plans at this point. I I would think an Eo replacement has to be on the drawing board, right? Ellen's Energy Adventure seems super dated too - they could replace that with something better.

Fun to speculate! Love zombie threads, lol.

a - Wonders of Life Pavilion reopened with a combination of new and
upgraded attractions

Yes yes yes! There are so many things they could do here . . . bringing back some of the educational aspect of EPCOT. I would love to see this happen.

b- Imagination Pavilion re-energized with a new 3D film plus return to
retro Figment attraction including a Figment and Dreamfinder M&G
and an additional attraction for the dormant upstairs area ...something

Imagination certainly needs some attention. I love Captain EO, but it is WELL past it's prime. New 3D technology is MUCH better than what is on display there, time for a BIG upgrade. Dreamfinder needs to come back. From what I understand, the MAIN reason for the now shortened version of Journey was all sorts of timing problems bringing the cars together into trains and having them meet up with the carousel. I would imagine that with the aid of modern computers, Disney Imagineers could figure out a way to make that original system work pretty much flawlessly now. Add in a newly re-imagined upstairs interactive playground, and you have a pavilion that people will actually WANT to spend time in.

c- a new country for World Showcase (perhaps Greece , Russia , or
India)

YES . .. Greece, Russia, Brazil, India, and for god's sake, add a couple of rides into the World Showcase. I seem to remember talk about a ride that was supposed to happen in Germany. I'm sure that Imagineers could come up with a few rides that would fit in with other countries as well. Rides draw, and move people. Notice how the Canada pavilion is pretty much dead. Put a ride in there, it'll be packed. Oh, yeah, and get rid of the lumberjack show, or get REAL lumberjacks so that the show is at least entertaining.

Soarin' . . . . we've already heard there will be a 3rd theater added, that is a good start, but why stop there? Let's go to digital 3D projections, AND . . .. set the film up like they did on Star Tours, so there are many different segments that are put together by computer, so each ride is a bit different. This is a simple thing to do, and helps to keep the ride from becoming dated, as they can simply film a few more segments, and add them in now and again.

Elen's Energy Adventure . . . . where to start? The only good thing about it is the ride through area with the dinosaurs. Ellen is not really relevant any more, nor is Bill Nye. Time to junk the filmed sections of this ride, and re-imagine it.

France, would be awesome to have a gondola ride tour through Venice.

Both A and B.

(And hopefully, the rebooted Wonders of Life would have some tie to Doc McStuffins!)

There are never going to be new countries in World Showcase, because the days of big foreign sponsorships are over, and Disney just doesn't have the will to build new countries without them. Heck, they're not even willing to maintain the countries they have without them - look at the way they're replacing big swaths of Norway with a fictional country from a fantasy movie.

That doesn't mean they can't expand in World Showcase, though. There are six large expansion lots between the existing countries, but they could be used for attractions related to the existing pavilions.

  • The dark ride portion of the Western River Expansion that was designed but never built for Frontierland in the MK could be built behind The American Adventure.
  • A Pinocchio ride could be built next to the Italy Pavilion (if they were feeling lazy they could copy the Disneyland version, although I'd rather they got more creative.)
  • They could put a Zorro ride in the expansion slot next to Mexico. Yes, I know Zorro was set in Old California, but that was also next to Mexico. It was also a Spanish-speaking colony of Spain.
  • The slot next to the United Kingdom is spoiled for choice. They could clone the Alice in Wonderland or Mr. Toad rides from Disneyland, or design something new based on Mary Poppins, Robin Hood, Brave, or The Sword in the Stone.
  • The slot next to France could host an attraction based on Beauty and the Beast, Ratatouille, or Cinderella.
  • A Tangled attraction could go next to the Germany pavilion, a Mulan one next to China, and they could take that traffic-choking Aladdin spinner out of the plaza in Adventureland and put it in the empty lot between Morocco and France.

It would be odd for them to add a nation to WS while they take one out. It would also be kind of sad to see WS turn in Fantasyland 2 particularly during Food & Wine.

I do agree that Future World needs a lot of help. There are some great ideas here.
