Hi Everyone!

My husband just surprised me with a Spring Break trip to WDW - best husband ever! Now I'm trying to plan and hoping to find things to do that we missed last time.

Our favorite was Epcot Japan - the kids loved Miyuki and Pick-a-pearl, things I would never have known about if it hadn't been for the DisBoards.

What are some of your favorite things to do at Epcot that are easy to miss if you don't know about them already?

Thanks!

We love doing Phineas and Ferb, Agent P adventure in a World showcase. Even if your kids don't watch the show, it's a fun electronic mystery/scavenger hunt that gets you interacting in the countries. Also collecting pressed pennies and, depending on kids' ages, doing the KidCot stops.

Catching performers in the countries while grabbing a snack is always someone's favorite moment on our family trips. My guys loved playing in the hedge maze in UK while mom and dad had an adult beverage on the benches!

We LOVE Japan too. It's our favourite pavilion in Epcot. I asked my DD's this question and they both mentioned 'Club Cool' to sample Coke beverages. It is next to the Starbucks (we like to go to Club Cool after riding in Future World and on our way to World Showcase).
There are also fun shows to watch in the UK and France Pavilions.
At the bead outpost (between Germany and China I think) you can purchase jewelry (reasonably priced; my DD's always get a piece of jewelry from here). The jewelry is made by mama's from Uganda (called "Bead for Life") with recycled Disney pamphlets. The proceeds go to help support the mama's and their families. We often buy these for souvenirs too.
Have fun:)

There’s so much to do at Epcot, but most of it you’ve probably already heard of:

The Kidcot stops
It’s ridiculous; I know. You go all the way to Disney, and what do the kids want to do? Color! No matter whose kids I go with, they always end up wanting to do these. We took passport books last year for these as they were a little too old for the bear, and it was a big hit.

The Agent P Adventure
This is a kind of electronic scavenger hunt Disney offers in WS. I really wanted to do this when it was the Kim Possible Adventure, but we never got a chance. It is still on my list of things to do in the future. I am determined I will do this one day.

Scavenger Hunts
We made up scavenger hunts for the kids to do in world showcase, and they had a lot of fun. For instance, I did one for Mexico because it is all inside, and I could let them loose to compete against each other. They had lists of different things they had to do or take pictures of like pose in a sombrero, shake a maraca, take a picture of papel picado, say something in spanish to the CMs, etc. They had a lot of fun doing this. They also really enjoyed looking at all the little carved animal scultptures and the boat ride in Mexico as well.

Around the World Games
Many people set out to collect or experience a different something from each world. Some of the different games I have heard of are drinks, dessert, candy, chocolate, snacks, trinkets or dollar type souvenirs, and ornaments.

Club Cool
You can taste different soda flavors from around the world. However, if you’ve been to the Coca-cola Museum in Atlanta, you maybe a little disappointed as there is nowhere near the selection.

Innovations
People tend to skip these buildings, but there can be some fun activities. It’s just kind of hit or miss. It really depends on crowd levels, your individual interests, and your luck on what exhibits are currently there.

All the interactive areas you get dumped into after the rides.
Most of these have games that end up keeping us entertained for much longer than the actual ride did and an added bonus is that for rides like Mission Space that a young child might not want to do, they can still go in and play the games without riding.

All the different performers in World Showcase.
We like the Chinese Acrobats and always try to catch them. But the French acrobat looks good as well. I think we will give that a try next trip.

Sum of All Thrills
This is a fun virtual rollercoaster ride that a lot of people don’t know about, but it can still get long lines.

Sea Base - A short dive show.
I didn’t find this all that interesting, but the kids did. They wanted to stick around and watch the whole thing.

The Jumping Fountains
We usually spend a good amount of time catching or trying to catch the jumping water drops.

The Butterfly House
This is only available during the Flower & Garden Festival.

Looking for hidden Mickeys in Living with the Land
We always end up riding this multiple times trying to spot all the plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables that are shaped like Mickey heads. We make it a contest to see who can find the most. For some reason pumpkin and tomato shaped Mickey heads are just more interesting to my family than regular hidden Mickeys.

The Bead Outpost
This was a new one for us last trip and really neat. It is located in the Africa section of World Showcase and is a partnership between Disney and Beads For Life. They sell hand-made beads made in Africa from recycled Disney park maps and brochures. The program helps impoverished women and girls gain skills and jobs. You can purchase pre-strung necklaces and bracelets or make your own. They don't really advertise the make your own jewelry aspect, but if you ask it is available and a lot of fun for the kids to string their own jewelry. Plus, if you have older kids the activity provides a good life lesson on helping others and in general, is a fun way to educate your kids about issues in other countries if you take the time to teach them a little about the organization.

Out of all of the above, overall our favorites are Living with the Land, the Kidcot Stops, and just enjoying exploring World Showcase either through the games we make up or by watching the entertainers we enjoy.

I for some reason really like the game at the end of Mission:SPACE, the one with the two teams of four and a compliment of helpers behind them. It's so fun and competitive, especially if you have good helpers. Even if you're not riding it you can enter through the exit to play.

Also, I love the new lighting effect on that big stone wheel just inside the doors to the pyramid in Mexico. Just watch it for a while to know what I mean.

What great ideas. I'll have to do some of these when I'm there next month.:thumbsup2

We like the water fountains and dancing water, and the dolphin training sessions.

We especially like to just stop and talk to the cast members from around the world.

It sounds like your kids may be too old to enjoy this, but my DD4 spent about 20 minutes playing with/dancing on the lighted ground in Future World after dark. It seems to be LED lights embedded in the concrete and it's multi-colored and patterned which seems to appeal to the younger set.
