My kids love Happy Hippo candies made by Kinder and I'm wondering if they sell them in the Germany pavilion?

Thanks!

I don't know if they do or not. I LOVE Kinder chocolate and I can't find it ANYWHERE stateside, Epcot included.

Unless this has changed since we were last there 2 years ago. :sad2:

Sorry - they didn't three weeks ago - we looked :(
Many other yummy German candies and chocolates though!

DH bought Kinder chocolate in Epcot a few days ago.

Sorry, OP, we didn't look beyond the chocolates.

I don't know about the Germany pavilion as I haven't been (yet!) but there is a website based out of Texas that has a HUGE selection of German/Austrian import groceries/candies/chocolates/gummies. My husband spends a small fortune with them every once in a while to get his beloved Almdudler soda, Gulash mix and Mozart Kugeln. I don't know if we are allowed to post websites here or not but they are the first site that comes up when you Google "Happy Hippo chocolates".

Unfortunately the Hippos appear to be OOS, but maybe they will be getting more?

Hopefully you can find it at WDW!

The only Kinder brand candy I saw in the shop at the Germany Pavilion was Kinder Schokolade (chocolate). I am really surprised they don't offer Kinder Surprise or Kinder Happy Hippos. Kids would love those and WDW is filled with children. Our children really like the Kinder Surprise eggs. We get them at our local British Emporium here in Texas or from friends when they travel to Europe. :wizard:

Our local Kroger (grocery store) has an international aisle that I can now get my yummy German and British candy from!

It is good to hear that they carry Kinder chocolate. They did not have any when we were there last time! YEA!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

According to the website a PP directed us too the Kinder Surprise Eggs with the toys inside are actually banned from import by the FDA. Something about them being hazerdous. I suppose if you let your kids eat the toy inside.

Though the site does sell the Happy Hippo chocolates.

I'd heard the Kinder Eggs were banned too! We always smuggle some in when we travel to Europe or through Canada. :rolleyes1

Santa dropped one off for my wife this Christmas. In a completely unrelated note, my sister-in-law is a flight attendant. :rotfl:

:scared1: I guess, I'd better stock up on them when I see them at our local British Imports store. If they are "banned", it is probably because ONE child bit into the candy without taking the toy out.

Yikes, "banned" :scared1: We live in the Canadian arctic and we still managed to buy a "Kinder" advent calendar for DD. It was filled with a different kinder chocolate each day and a hazardous kinder surprise
on the 24th :lmao: I never thought about DD5 eating the toy inside :confused3

they are banned because a very old (1938) US law about having a non-edible object embedded in an edible food. They are for sale in many European shops, and the reason there was a 'run' on them recently was several Canadian newspapers ran articles warning not to send kinder eggs to the US.

The candy clearly displays the international symbol for choking hazard for under 3 years of age.

DH is leaving for the Netherlands today via Germany. I just put him on the look-out for surprise eggs and hippos. He is always looking for something little to bring back for DD (his 3rd two-week trip since Sept-ugh)

thanks!

Ahh - I love Kinder chocolates. The surprise eggs were DS17's favorites when he was little. I have a lot of relatives in Canada, so we used to get them all the time. Haven't thought about them in years. :goodvibes

HHHHHHHmmmmmmm, i can't live without this chocolate.

Vacation time (mostly in Florida :thumbsup2) is the only time of the year without...but only a few weeks...

Seriously, the Kinder Eggs are banned in the States? Guess I just learned that I was a smuggler last year when bringing along quite a few for some fellow DIS'ers. :rolleyes1

*mumbles something about TSA and US Embassy needing to update their info*

We used to get the Kinder Surprise Eggs all the time when my daughter was small. We were so mad when they stopped selling them. The little toys inside them are adorable. She did bring some back from Canada a few years ago when she went to visit a friend.

Well, that would explain why we couldn't find them last week.

It's a good thing my husbands best friend is German. He sent my son 3 pkgs for Christmas, so I'll just hit him up for more. They traveled really well. Only 2 eggs broke. I'll also have to get some gummi bears since the german ones are SOOOOO much better!
