Epcot for kindergartners

Hello -

I searched for this topic, so forgive me if it has been asked before. What are the favorite things you've experienced at the parks with a 5-6 year old? Mainly I'm concerned with finding things for DS to enjoy at Epcot, but I'd like to hear what you consider the best things for this age at any park too.

My 2 DDs love Epcot. They are now 6 and 3. The 6 year old has been going since 3 and has always loved it. They both love to do the masks at the kidcot stations. They also love to eat dinner at the Biergarten for the music and dancing. They play the drums at the African Outpost. They both love "The Big Ball" (spaceship earth) and Test Track. My 6 yr. old loves the fireworks, 3 yr. old still a little scared. I almost forgot the Viking Ship. Great place to rest and have a frozen margarita while they climb on the ship. The 6 yr. old also likes Maelstrom (even the movie at the end, she makes us watch it every time.)

We spend as much time there as we do in MK and love it.

My almost five year old loves getting stamps in his passport when he visits each country. He also loves the little craft stops where you make masks, etc...

The Living Seas
Eating all the food from different countries

He likes all of it except the scary rides. He's not big enough for Mission Space, Test Track, Body Wars, etc...

My kids weren't overly impressed with EC. They did enjoy SE, and most of the things in FW. WS however wasn't a big thrill for them, they do have stations all around the world called kidcot stations. The kids get to decorate a mask from all the different countries. You'll have to go to Ice Station Cool in FW, you can get all the FREE soda pop you want in there. Get your son to try the beverly and watch his reaction, always a classic!

My kids range from 4 to 7 and they all enjoy EPCOT. They love the Imagination ride, Living Seas, Spaceship Earth, and the oldest even loved Mission Space! But they also love the fountains in Future World, some you can even splash in.

In World Showcase they enjoy the kidcot stops at each country, loking for the characters that are country specific, and especially the shows. The Japanese drummers, Mariachi band, living statues, and street performers in the UK are huge hits with the kids.

And don't forget the snacks and restaurants. Shaved ice in Japan or anything from the pastry shop in Norway is appreciated. Make sure you get the showtimes for the day and than let the kids be your guide.

my kids, 6 and 3 love the kidcot stations, innoventions (especially the computer stuff), journey into imagination with figment (and the after ride), making cookies at the Land, the viking ship, riding El Rio del Tiempo in Mexico, taking a boat ride to the Beach Club to eat at Beaches & Cream, the bakery at France, spaceship earth, and test track.

There are a lot of things to do for kids at Epcot. Just being able to roam around the various lands is also appealing to them. Going thru the little nooks and crannies.

My son has loved Epacot (what he used to call it) since the first time we visited when he was 3. He loves the boat ride in the Land, Mexico and Norway. The dinos in Energy and he is looking forward to trying out Test Track in a few weeks.

When he was little he used to love to dance with the musicians in the different countries.

At 4 and then 7 my granddaughter loved Epcot.......to the point where I couldn't get her to leave so that we could go over to the Magic Kingdom!


She loved to do all the things the others have mentioned. She likes to learn stuff so we got into the science part of Epcot as much as possible what with the Living Seas, The Land, Energy.....all fed her info that she just ate up. LOL

She also enjoyed the craft stops and much of the entertainment, especially the Living Statues, Roland~The balloon guy in France, the acrobats in China and Off Kilter.


Now as a youngster my daughter didn't care for Epcot at all. Go figure.

In addition to all the things listed by previous posters, my two (now 5 & 7) love to dance on the fiber optics embedded in the concrete in Future World. No matter how tired they seem to be after Illuminations, they always find energy to play in that area on our way out of the park!

My DD's 5 and 6 love Epcot. The masks are always fun.

What I am always surprised by DD's love each and every time:

The World Showcase Players in Italy and UK
The living statue in Italy
The comic with the chairs in France.

They weren't as interested in the bands as I would have hoped.

Our children have always loved EPCOT, it is there fav park to this day. They love the WS and trying all kinds of different food. They can not understand why our neighbors never bring there kids to the WS. They think they are crazy! We wander through the shops and watch the performers. Mostly, we take our time and enjoy the ambiance... The music, theming, and just general feel.

If we can, we go to the WS each day of our vacation to wander. Like I said, it is our fav park. But, we are definately in the minority with our friends...

I also think if you love something, it will rub off on your kids. I love the WS! Future World is cool too, we love the rides and shows.

BTW, DS will be 14 during this trip and DD is now, officially, 10 and 1/2! They have been going at least once a year since DS was 2. They have always enjoyed EPCOT, even then... We love WDW!

Thanks for all the ideas! I've never spent much time researching Epcot as I thought DS wouldn't like it at his age. Looks he should be able to find something entertaining, so the grown-ups can enjoy themselves too!

I was just wondering what the "masks" are? Someone on the budget board said that they took some for souvenirs for the kids' class back home. Are they made of paper or plastic and how are they decorated?

EPCOT has always been my family's favorite park. We always make sure to spend time at Innoventions letting DS play and explore. We let him take 2 friends this year and the friends had never spent much time at Innoventions.

My DD5 (daredevil) loved Body Wars, and loved playing in the life pavilion.

Since she has an older brother, we could relax with margaritas in mexico while they went on boat over and over.

There's a boat to climb on in Norway she likes.
Loves to watch the flamingos.
Loves the Norway boat ride.
LOVES the Living statue. IN fact we got to linger over wine at lunch at chefs de paris while she was entranced.

LOVES TO SHOP: she used all her spending money for beanies from the different countries; tried to get a minnie from every one.

Loves eating by the fish.

LOVED Mission Space.
LOVED Test Track.
