I originally wasn't going to be visiting Epcot, because I didn't think our five yr. olds would enjoy it. But, then I saw a WDW special on Monday and saw how much fun Test Track and Mission space would be for hubby and I, so I had doubts. Plus, illuminations seemed like a not to miss kind of thing, too.

First of all, we can do a child swap on those two rides, can't we?

Second, so what is there to do at Epcot for five yr. olds? Should we just spend the last half of a day there, to go on those rides and see illuminations? We are considering on adding an extra day to our vacation so we can get Epcot in. Please help those of you who have done Epcot with children...........

My DD (5) loved Epcot. In the World Showcase they have Kidcot locations in each country. In the first country you get a plain mask and in each country you get to color your mask some more. They stamp the stick and clip a little something about their country on the mask. It is alot of fun for kids. Plus depending on how tall your child is they can ride Test Track.
Spaceship Earth was alot of fun for my DD.

The only place my DS 5 wants to go is Epcot! We were there last August and he had a blast! He also loves anything to do with science, that counts for a lot. The shows are great for the kids as long as they can wait in line for them. DS loved the movie in the land with Timone & Pumba, I can't remember what it was called at the moment. And this time when we go we are going to wait in the land until he can make cookies with a cast member. I think they do it a few times a day, and it's free!

Buy a passport & have your child learn to say hello in each country (see thread) & get the passport stamped at each country. Definately do the kidcot stations. Each country has stuff appealing to kids (Mex & Nor have rides, UK has a hedge maze, Italy has living statues - I think, Japan has the candy artist, Germany has trains, etc). Many countries have character sightings (Aladdin in Morroco, B&tB in France, Bro Bear in Canada, etc). Yes, you can do child swap at the 2 FW biggies!! Your 5 yo may like Living Seas, Figment, HISTA too!
Have a great time!

Epcot is my 6 year olds favorite park - I definitely wouldn't miss it.

You can get the masks at any country and they are free. The passports are in all the shops and they are around $10.

Our 5 year old had a ball while his 10 year old brother rode Mission Space (6 different times, love the babyswap!). Mission Space has a cool space themed area with a climbing gym, video games and a place to send video emails. We also went to the pavillion right next door- sorry brain lock where we saw videos on being healthy and rode on simulator ride (another brain lock) that took us inside the body.

He was big enough to do test track and loved it. He enjoyed Illuminations.

There was lots to do.

I was thinking that maybe a 10 year old would really like Mission Space! DH and I had to take a few minutes to pull ourselves together after we got off it. :)

Don't forget all the interactive stuff in Innoventions, though. And kids love the Living Seas!

Epcot is my 5 year old daughters favorite park. The characters are so available there. The character bus is a huge fave. Also the different countries have their own characters (Bell/Beast = France, Jasmine/alladdin/genie = morrocco) She gets more time with them in Epcot. The princess breakfast in Norway. Test track is her fave ride. Have not been able to do mision space as it seems a liitle intense. Living seas with Nemo exhibit and dolphins, The land baking cookies, Figment and the imagination game area. Ice station cool with the snow.Innoventions, And then to the countries. Loves the masks. Just have to give them a few minutes at each country so they can really color them to their satisfaction. At Epcot some of the stuff requires you to slow down and really look instead of having it thrown in your face with parades and character shows like atthe otherparks. My 5 yr old loves that. we take it at her speed and she and we really love it. Have fun. BTW she loves the Mexico ride but is scaredof the trolls in Norway.

Our dd loved the ice cream social @ the garden grill. Great ice cream and she got to spend alot of time with the characters. Our best character meal!

See the mini train in Germany, see Kristos in FW, see the waterfall in Canada, the "street shows" in France and UK, the living statues, see all of the characters tucked away in each country with no lines, the candy lady in Japan, the Chinese acrobats (a group of kids), the viking ship in Norway (you can play on it), and our 5 year old DD LOVES Test Track!! She's not tall enough for Mission Space but our 7 yo DS is and he loves it. Our kids love Epcot (in a different way than they love MK). They even look forward to lunch at Le Cellier so they can have all of those tasty breadsticks - and I get to have my beloved cheese soup. Have fun!!

My 4 yr. old loves World Showcase: the kidcot stations to color, the train village in Germany, the Toy Shoppe in UK with Thomas the Train table and Pooh area, outside UK around the bandstand the hedge maze to run around, the drums in africa, the live entertainment and the characters. Ask a CM where the characters are. Sometimes they're hidden.

Let's see, my soon to be 5 yr old DD likes:
Spaceship Earth (who doesn't)
The Living Seas
The Circle of Life movie inside The Land
Imagination with Figment Especially the exhibits after the ride!
Honey I Shrunk the Audience 3-D movie
Test Track
El Rio del Tiempo (Mexico boatride)
Maelstrom (Norway boatride)
Imaginum (living statue act)
China movie
USA movie
France movie
Canada movie
The food, the music, making a mask, speaking to the CMs from all different countries, etc. You get the idea!

Have a great trip & enjoy Epcot.

WOW- How could I have considered not doing Epcot ! I think we will definately add the extra day just for Epcot. Thanks everyone for your help. I'm going to copy this thread to save for our trip to Epcot !!
