My wife and I live near Disney, so decided to call into work sick, drop the kids off at school and go to EPCOT for a day. (We told them we had to go to a boring meeting). We arranged for MIL to pick the kids up from school so we did not have to be home till 8 ish.
It was Wednesday, Nov 8 - a day before most of the Jersey folks arrive. We've accidently stumbled into MK one Saturday during Jersey week and swore not to make that mistake again. Not that there is anything wrong with people from NJ.
Our goal was to "relax" and enjoy the food and wine. As annual pass holders, we have been to EPCOT countless times, but usually are going from one ride to the other, stopping for potty breaks, pushing the stroller, stopping to get snacks, etc. - you all know the drill. This time, we were able to skip the security line as we had no bags - yeah. We had perfect weather and just took our time walking around, with no set timetable.
We got there about 45 mins before WS opened, so did Test Track as single riders - 10 minute wait - and then Mission Space. We go Orange, and although the wait times for Green and Orange both said 20 minutes, we could see the Orange line was much shorter. We waited less than 10. Once on the ride, I scared some little girl sitting next to me by flipping too many switches.
Once off, it was now around 11:00 and we toured the WS going CCW. Even though each food and wine averages only $3.00, it really starts to add up, as everything looks so good. The portions are small enough that you never really feel full, which is good and bad. We marked the items in the booklet that we tried, and circled the wines that we wanted to purhase later. We stopped at France and watched the movie since it has been several years since we've seen it. Amazing how much I remember from it. In the UK, there was a shop in back with a sign that read "Give us your best Scottish accent". "Captain, I've given her all that I've got. She can't take much more." I remember my wife running out of that store fairly quickly.
We were in Greece about 2 weeks prior and toured a winery in Santorini. So we were excited to see the wine from there being served at the Greek pavillion. Too bad we did not really like any of it.
We continued around to Norway, skipped Mexico, and turned around.
Around 2:45 we decided to eat a full lunch at Marrakesh because the last show is at 2:50. We picked this reastaurant because we think it has great atmoshere, you can almost always get in without a reservation, and the food is more unique. After our late lunch, we explored the shops and antiques in more detail than we ever could with the children.
We took the boat from Morroco to Canada, then hit ice station cool for Beverly. (It makes everything else taste great in comparison.) Too many kids already know about this, because I was not able to trick any that were there into trying it. There were other new flavors which we had not seen, but of course, I can't remember them.
We shopped at the wine cellar and bought bottles of wines that we'd liked. On the way out, we skipped SSE, which usually is the last thing we do, but since I read the new Siemens display is not yet open, we skipped it.
The end.
