***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Over the years, DW and I developed a tradition of stopping by the Ireland Booth and getting a glass of O'Mara's Irish Cream to sip on the walk out. Much to our dismay, last year they did not have it!!! Fortunately, we found out soon enough and bought a bottle to keep back at the RV so we could have a glass at the campsite. I would ask that someone check Ireland as soon as they can and see if they include Irish Cream so I will have time to buy a bottle if they do not. Thank you for help with this vital information.

And that's how our traditions happen. We do something once and if it's special to us, we want to continue it. :goodvibes I will try and remember to check if the Ireland Booth is selling Irish Cream this year.

There's a new sticky on the Restaurant Reviews board for food and wine festival reviews. This thread will be unstuck tomorrow. It won't go away, but it won't be a sticky thread anymore.

BYW, does anyone know what goes into the St. Germain Red Cocktail (besides the St. Germain liquor)?

Oh I know this one as I've had one recently (well the traditional version):
St Germain
Champagne
Soda Water

but the disney version is a St Germain Red Cocktail (or was last year) which is:
St Germain
Vodka
Cranberry Juice

Not sure which one is this years

Do the booths stay open during extra magic hours?
Yes they have done in the past so will probably this year
[QUOTE}And do they open at 11:00 am like the rest of the WS?[/QUOTE]
Yes
In general what are the times of the free wine seminars? I know someone is going to post the schedule thrus night, but I am so impatient! :yay: Have to get my touring plan together. This is the main reason my father is coming as he is experimenting with making his own wine and I remember that the presenters were very open for questions when I was there two years ago. Many of them stayed afterward to talk to people. He has 2 acres of vines in three or four different varieties in southern Alabama (not the most hospitable climate for grapes!) I know he will have a barrage of questions. We are sooo excited!
OK so looking at last year they were:
1:30pm/2:45pm/4pm/5:15pm for Food tastings
11am/12:30pm/2pm/3:30pm/5:30pm for the Estate wine seminars
1pm/3pm/5pm/7:15pm for the Vineyard wine seminars

Depends on which one it was...if it says Vidal on the label, depending on the year it sold for $19.99 per bottle, I see, since it has won many awards the current release is now up to $49.99 per bottle.

I just checked the bottle - is was $46.95 and says "Mission Hill Reserve Riesling Icewine Okanagan Valley VQA 2004"

We're planning Epcot on Thursday, 10/16. Is the F&W Festival that day and will it affect us any if we're not participating at all? Thanks!

The Food and Wine Festival is every day from tomorrow, September 26, through November 9.

It shouldn't affect you much on a Thursday, the real crowds are in World Showcase on weekends.

The 7:15 wine seminars in the past have only been held on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday nights. The food tasting demos are only scheduled to run 5 days a week this year according to earlier information, I believe they are to be offered Wednesdays- Sundays only.

The Vidal icewine is different then Reisling - actually its 2 different types of grapes - the bottle that was sold last year was a Reisling (what cdtommie posted above is the exact one I got last year) You can buy a cheaper icewine it just doesn't taste AS good as the Reisling that was sold last year. It actually all depends on how cold it gets at a certain time for how good the icewine will be for that year. I did lots of research last year after I fell in LOVE :lovestruc with the icewine they served.

Are we able to ship home the wine we purchase? Has anyone had experience with this in the past?

I LOVE that apple logo!

Leaving work soon, hopefully will have some pictures and brochures later tonight!

I do love the apple also and the Mexico with the watermelon! Very Cool!
Have a blast and I can't wait to hear about what you see!
:goodvibes

This thread is no longer a sticky :cool1: which means - ITS THURSDAY!!! The F&W fest has begun!! :yay:

It was discussed earlier in this thread. Disney does not ship wine was the response I recall....

I'm from Illinois, and I know that in order to ship wine, the distributors have to have an agreement with the state, and have to (probably) pay for the right to ship wine to the state - so as the F&W is a special event, and its a hassle to get agreements, Disney doesnt ship wine ... (I however do ship wine home through ups)

(and the above is from my memory, and I'll grant you its not always accurate!)

I called Sunday to check out a couple of events to book during our visit Oct 30-Nov 2. We booked the new City Tastes event "Taste of Italy" for Oct 31. It was available. We tried to book the Food and Wine Pairing Nov 1 for Tastes of Italy but I was told that it was sold out.
