***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Another one here for the PFTS on 18 October. My first ever.

DS8 was listening in to me booking this morning, he heard me ask for two people. I get off the phone and it's "So Dad isn't going then?" Urm, actually .........

Bless his heart. Well, I bet you have something wonderful lined up for him. :goodvibes

You were right - I was referring to Signature Dinner (Evening Attire). Last year's signature at CA Grill - I was able to cancel due to its being surprisingly vegetarian with a last minute fish dish. How was it?

You were able to cancel a signature dinner reservation last year? Did they refund your money? I thought last year was the first year for the non-refundable policy.

I am not someone who went, but apparently when Disney booked the chef who prepared the California Grill signature dinner in 2007 they were not aware that he intended to present an entirely vegetarian meal.

I may not be remembering correctly but I think he was actually going to go vegan.

I believe they talked him out of serving exclusively vegan items and into including a fish dish for anyone who wanted it (I believe you had to actually declare that you wanted the fish) - but cancellations were permitted for anyone who had already booked, seeing as the festival people thought they would have a number of upset patrons who had shelled out about $150 for a dinner entirely free of critters.

We called right at 7 this morning. On hold for 20 minutes. Booked the 10/3 CBB and the 10/5 Sweet Sunday

I got mine today too...about 7 hours after I already booked. Fashionably late as always. Thank goodness for the Dis for the info!

You said it! Thanks to the DIS and all the information that was posted here Thursday evening the hubby and I were able to talk through the events, our personal price points, and agree on a plan of attack if we were home in time to make a run at the phones this morning.

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

Yes, and thanks to Nala for starting this thread!!

Count DW and me in for the PFTS for October 4. Booked this AM but not until around 9 am. Was considering other events but I'm just going to enjoy drinking more around the world.... :yay:

Been meaning to post that I will see you there.....no extra events for us this year. Our food and wine pairings were not offered. And I cannot see booking a cheese tasting right before PFTS - so we will wander around the world and sample and maybe take in a few of the seminars that we never have time to try.

I called tonight and booked the Food & Wine pairing @ Tokyo Dining on 11/3 at 3:30pm...Anyone done this before? Would love to hear details:thumbsup2

ROFL. I just spent all of this time catching up and could not find my post from this morning. I managed to get in right after saying I was on hold. I booked PFTS for 10/18. I am shocked at how many DISers will be there that night. We are going to take up all of the tables! lol

Are you all going to have something DIS-related on so we can stop and say hello to one another?

I called in and weirdly got to talk to someone without being on hold. Getting that lucky I wish I wanted to book more than PFTS, LOL. Glad that everyone seems to be successful with their reservations! My family and I will be at the PFTS on 11/1!

This will be our 3rd time going to the F&W, but first time at a special event! We will be at the PFTS on Nov.8!!! :cool1:

How do you save room for all of the food? We will be at WS sampling all day on Nov. 7 and then on the 8th. How does everyone do it?

Eat sparingly on the day you attend PFTS. My husband and I usually eat a good breakfast on that day and maybe have a light snack during the day but that's it ... and then we stuff ourselves silly at PFTS.

You'll have a great time - there are so many wonderful things to try!

This is exactly what we do :) Don't starve yourself all day or your stomach will temporarily "shrink."

Though we usually get there early (5:30) and then wander around and get a sample and a wine from a booth because we're starving and complain about having to pay for "booth samples" when we're about to go into the PftS ...

LOL, I know. They didn't ask, all they wanted to know is how many boxes we wanted/bubble wrap, etc, all included in the price. They left and we packed everything up ourselves. Keep it in mind for future trips..they were really great. Save you driving around for sure.

I will, thanks. I was so panicked when I realized I had forgotten we couldn't carry on all that liquid! I got my laptop out and found the closest UPS Store to our hotel in Santa Barbara. All I could think of was how sick I was going to be if I had to drink the majority of those 27 bottles in the next three days! :rotfl2:

yep, a few booth samples for lunch - not many, just a few. I don't do breakfast.

I did the sushi/sake pairing back before it was Tokyo Dining - it was the Matsunoma Lounge then. The sushi was good - not fantastic, very basic sushi - but the big draw was the sake. They had some great sake, served in glasses that sat in the little boxes filled with crushed ice.

This year I will do the sake tastings in the Japanese store and have sushi at California Grill.

It sounds like you all did well today. YAY!!
