***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Okay, I was very intrigued by the Sam Adams Utopias talk, so I investigated (we never tried it before). Does it really NOT taste like beer? Just curious as I really dislike beer...on the opposite end, DH loves Sam Adams beers, but never had the Utopias.

Anyway, this is where I got my info (just in case I'm totally wrong): http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/food/articles/2008/01/23/this_extreme_beer_takes_it_to_the_limit_one_more_time/

Also...anyone ever see Lambic beer at the festival? While I don't enjoy regular beer, I do enjoy the Lambic.

YES!! LAMBIC FRAMBOUS (SP?) is amazing! I wish they would come to the Fest!:woohoo:

I always try to visit the Sam Adams table at the Party for the Senses early, just for the Utopias. In previous years, the stuff ran out, and once it's gone, it's gone. It doesn't taste like beer, and no fizz. I think it has more of a cognac taste, but with a hint of caramel.

You get to try about a thimbleful of it, but it's really good. :)

Wow!!!

We will be there that Saturday. We always go for the day to get the booklets to plan our October trip.

Thanks for posting the information.

Oh Jeannie! I hope you get to see some of the competition or at least some of the chefs!

We won't be going to the F&WF until late October this year but hey we still are going and that's the important thing!

See you real soon ...why ? Well you know why!

Sounds like something we both would enjoy. Maybe I'll have to see if I can order it from my trusty wine supplier. Pricey stuff though, so I think one bottle will suffice. ;)

I was lucky to snag a bottle at Epcot last year, and surprisingly enough found one down in West Palm when I was visiting my inlaws at Christmas - there's a Greenwise Publix at the Palm Beach Gardens shopping area, and there it was in the wine case. My brother bought that one. :)

I would call it a cognac that has a hint of beer flavor in the background. But yes absolutely, the Sammie table is usually one of the first we hit, after getting champagne first!

I'll be opening my bottle in 3 years, when I turn 30. ;)

I'd imagine that last year's brewing sold out, so I wouldn't expect to see any on sale at Epcot at least. I'm hoping they saved bottles for the PftS though!

IOn another note, we were able to confirm that Caymus (one of our favorite vintners) will be there Oct. 16-20. Last year, we did their Exquisite Evening and the Discovering Wine seminar on Conundrum. Both events were fabulous, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Caymus is one of our favorite wineries too...we visit Napa Valley almost every year and make it a point to stop there. If you ever get a chance to visit, purchase a few bottles of their Zinfandel, it’s only sold at the winery because they only produce a small quantity...it’s outstanding.

Do you remember who represented the winery at the seminar you attended last year? I hope Chuck Wagner was present! I bet after the program you know why they named the wine Conundrum…and you probably can name the 5 varietals they blend! Conundrum is a great wine to enjoy with spicy foods.

Deleted my post since this was deemed OT...sorry if anyone was offended or inconvenienced by my question. Now back to your regularly scheduled F&W Fest chat.

Ah! My dad told me about a place like this near Tampa, I'm going to have to see if DH would want to go to the one in Winter Park. We don't have plans tonight so maybe I can drag him there tonight ;)

Edit: poor DH. "I guess, if you want.." always reluctant! We'll probably go in a couple weeks then.

The wine tasting bar and shop is called "The Grape" and it is located at International Mall in Tampa. Here is a link to their website, http://www.yourgrape.com/

It is located outside the mall in the restaurant area.

I need to ask that we please do not use this thread to chat about anything outside the Epcot food and wine festival - we have subscribers to this thread who check on new posts to see if there is new F&W info. If you want to chat about the wine place in Winter Park, please do it on the main board.

Thanks, all

Great video! Is it bad that I knew what the song was as soon as it started playing? :rolleyes1 I was obsessed with the Spice Girls in middle school.

Dear Lord!!! You make me feel old. I got married in '97 at the age of 22. Granted I know there are those who will say they're even older than me but even my youngest sibling was in HS when that song came out and she's almost 26.

The video was pretty cute and I can't wait until the F & W in October!!!

In 97 I was 12, well 13 after my birthday. That was before my first trip to Disney, seems so long ago.

Does anyone know if they're using the Wonders of Life pavillion again for the shops and wine tastings.

They used it for the flower and garden in the spring. seems like it's the new epcot festival center.
