***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

You never get a DDE discount at any of the stands - only participating restaurants and all lounges at disney hotels.

Yep. No pool bars or stands in the parks. DDE does work at the lounges in the parks though like Tune in Lounge, Tamu Tamu Refreshments, Rose and Crown pub, etc..

Back to DDE discounts. Okay, so not for events and not for booths but what about at the regular places that take it all year long at Epcot? So, if I get a margarita at the margarita stand that's there all year round, does my card work there?

Not good at the little stands, only full service restaurants (food courts where there isn't a full service restaurant) and lounges.

Found this!

British chef Matt Tebbutt will appear at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in Walt Disney World, Orlando.

Tebbutt will host his own cookery demonstration at the event on October 1.

He said: “I’m delighted to be the first UK chef to introduce Walt Disney World to the classic British cuisine we are so proud of.”

The six-week food festival runs from September 26 to November 9 and offers guests the chance to sample cuisine from all over the world.

Tebbutt worked under Marco Pierre White at The Oak Room and the Criterion before acquiring his own restaurant, The Foxhunter, in Wales.

How in the world did you find that?!!! :thumbsup2 I haven't heard or seen anything about it here, since it was annouced a while back.

Too many hours of obsessive internet looking! :surfweb:
Have you heard of this person? I can't wait to see his stuff and just hope it will be at the Festival when I am.

My wife and I are going down to the F&WF totally by accident!
We will be there from Sept. 26th to Oct. 1st.

For a couple of people who have no clue about this event or what it entails,
does anyone have any suggestions as to how to experience it for the first time?

I have read most of the thread and some info about the different events and the kiosks and special bookings, but it seems so overwhelming to two inexperienced, first timers.

Our thoughts were to keep it simple and walk around and try food from the kiosks. Anything you think would be a MUST SEE?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Rob :)

I think you have the right idea. Just roll with it that weekend, since it is your first time, I wouldn't book any special events. There are so many wonderful free seminars and tastings, as well as the entire world showcase of booths with small price tastings that will keep you plenty busy.

Just pick up the brochure when you enter the park, check out the schedule of events for the days you are going to be there. All the book/bottle signings will be listed as well as the free events and special things going on.

There are also wine walk abouts or walk throughs for a small price where you can taste a certain number of wines, you choose them from a list of many, again, for a small fee.

You are going to have a blast!

Enjoy

ITA. :thumbsup2: I definitely would just take advantage of the regular offerings that the festival has. When you get bored a bit with the regular stuff (or rather just wanting more) like some of us veterans, then you add things in there in subsequent years to change your experience up.

I am taking a first-timer this year... we are doing the kiosks and Party For the Senses. While I love to amble about the World Showcase nibbling and sipping, there's just nothing like the wow factor you get when you step into PFTS for the first time (ever, or in a year, no mind). The colors, the smells, the people, the music, the performers, the chefs, the wine... it truly is one big party! It's in my top ten things to do at Disney, without question. :cloud9:

No matter what... HAVE A GREAT TIME AT F&WF! :wizard:

This is a question for the sushi lovers who have been to the Sake, Sushi, Sashimi event. For $110.00 per couple is this event really worth the price. We would want to try some unique kinds of sushi and sake. Not looking to sample the old standbys spicy ahi or salmon sashimi with geko sake. We lived in Hawaii for 3 years and I visited my mom is San Fran for many years prior to her retirement. So in other words I love sushi and have had the best. I am thinking that we could eat at a sushi restaurant (perhaps at the dolphin) for that price and try many types of sushi and sake that we get to pick. Please give me your thoughts. And of course if anyone has any food porn from the event please post for us to see.

Thanks,
B.

Sounds like you would be more comfortable with picking your own, since you are so familiar, so that is probably what I would do. CA grill has some wonderful sushi options. Have never had sushi at Swan/Dolphin but it is consistantly ranked very high in Orlando food reviews.

Also, my hubby had a wonderful sushi appetizer at Flying Fish not to long ago.

Also, there is a new sushi restaurant at Gaylord Palms, first tasting is 8/27. Don't know how often they will do them, but worth checking into if you are going to be in the Orlando area, as it doesn't take you long to get from Disney to Gaylord Palms.

Does anyone know . . .

At the Party for the Senses, is it necessary to attend the Eat to the Beat concert or can you show up afterward?

Nope, you do not have to attend the concert, you can just go get in line for the party.

I would go to California Grill-Yoshi is one of the top sushi chefs in the country. The Sake, Sushi, Sashimi tasting was fine at $35 but at $55 way too much. It was pretty standard sushi/sashimi when we went.

Another option is Japan at Epcot and forgive me that I do not recall the name of the resturant - but it is the one that overlooks the Lake. We are there and had good sushi and sashami....It may have been at Tokyo Dining...??? they had a seperate menu that was in addition to the one posted on web sites....

Tokyo Dining in Epcot is supposed to have a very good sushi menu - haven't eaten there yet so I can't really comment on it.

Last year the hubby and I created our own sushi sampler over at Kimonos (the Swan) and it was terrific and much more reasonable than the F&W pairing being offered at the Festival.

CA Grill also has very good sushi but not as much variety as Kimonos.

Can I ask another question about PFTS... I haven't seen mentioned (of course w/as many pages as there are I may have missed it).

How formal, or not, is the event? Should I pack a dress/skirt for that evening? Or can we get by in our shorts/jeans at the event?

Thanks in advance for any info. someone has on this.
