I heard a while ago that the Propane barge that makes the big bang for the Epcot fireworks was out for repairs. Is that true? If so, anyone know when it is due back? Going in mid-May for 60th birthday. Would love to see firework show with the flaming, big bang of the propane flashing over the water. Thanks.

During IllumiNations the "Inferno Barge" does not actually
create a "big bang" (sound) in itself.
Any sound from the barge's billowing flames (and I'm sure these is some) is lost
under the very loud musical soundtrack and the explosions of pyrotechnics.

It is supposed to artistically represent "The Big Bang" (the speculative scientific origin of the universe.)

During the show, the barge does create huge billows of flame and black smoke.

But, as was mentioned, there is (long after Epcot is closed for the evening)
a loud bang as the excess propane is ignited to "burn-off" any gas that is leftover in the tank(s) before the barge is towed back to its backstage dock.

There have been times that I've heard the "whoosh" of gas from the propane jets, even with the very loud soundtrack and explosions of pyro.

Chalk it up to those Wolverine sensitive ears.
