I think there is usually an Epcot flower and garden festival in the spring. Does anyone know the dates of this (Webmaster Pete?) and can you give me an idea about any special events I will want to see?

The seminars in Future World are great, but my favorite part is walking all around Epcot to see the many flowers, planters and topiaries....:D

The dates for this year's Festival are April 16 - June 6.

There will be Flower Power concerts as well. Here's the tentative schedule for those:

Davy Jones - April 16 - 19
The Nelsons - April 20 - 23
BJ Thomas - April 24 - 27
Gary Puckett - April 28 - May 1
Dave Mason - May 2 - 5
The Grass Roots starring original lead singer Rob Grill - May 6 - 9
Orleans May 10 - 13
The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie - May 14 - 17
Eric Burdon and the Animals - May 18 - 21
Felix Cavaliere's Rascals - May 29 - 30
The Buckinghams May 31 - June 3
The Lovin' Spoonful - June 4 - 6

We were at the show last year -- what a great time to visit Epcot!!

I would agree that just walking around and taking in all the different varieties/shades of plants is so much fun.

One of my fondest memories of our last trip is looking down from the monorail at the thousands and thousands of flowers at Epcot below.

Right after finalizing our plans to WDW just this past Saturday, I found out that the F/G festival is in April and starts the week AFTER we leave. I was SO upset. However, the dates we are going are set because we are going to WDW following a wedding in Fort Pierce. So I have my niece to blame for missing out in this great show. Oh well, perhaps next year we will make it.

DH suggested that perhaps they will have some flowers set up early. Any likelihood of that happening, do you think?

<font color=green>I think DH is right. They'll probably start setting up for the flower show at least the week before. It's a lot to just change over the beds they have now. It's such a beautiful time to go, I'm grass green with envy</ font color> ::yes::

There seems to be some changes in the dates for the FP concerts. I got this from Deb's site today:

Gary Puckett - April 28 - May 1
Orleans - May 2 - 5
The Grass Roots starring original lead singer Rob Grill - May 6 - 9
Dave Mason - May 10 - 13
The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie - May 14 - 17
Eric Burdon and the Animals - May 18 - 21
Felix Cavaliere's Rascals - May 29 - 30
The Buckinghams May 31 - June 3
The Lovin' Spoonful - June 4 - 6

Subject to change

I had to ask on a different board because I didn't know who Orleans was or what songs I could expect. Anyway, we're going, for a long weekend, in May.

My husband and I went to the Flower Festival last year for the first time. You think there are lots of flowers in the parks throughout the year, wait until you see what they do for this.
In fact, we took both a 35 mm camera and our digital. It was not until we went back for Christmas that we finished the roll of film from the Flower Festival. Just seeing the difference in the pictures on that roll of film from May until December, it was amazing.
We have since added a 4th week to our annual trips to include the flowers.
It is unreal what they do.
You don;' have much time to do anything other than try and take in as much as you can. This year we hope to take in some of the seminars.
We just bought into SSR, but it won't be opened when we go the last week in April. So one more stay at Downtwon Disney and then after that WELCOME HOME.

The Flower and Garden Festival is the reason I always make my annual trek to WDW in May. I just love walking around admiring all the gardens. And even though spring is starting here in NH, the gardens in Epcot are a great burst of color after a long, cold winter.

If you ever have the chance to experience the F&G Festival, you will enjoy it!

Does anyone know where and when during the flower and garden festival that they release the ladybugs and/or butterflies??

My sister and I are finally going for the festival and we would love to see this event.

Thanks in advance, Paula :sunny:

I'm so jealous of all of your quick weekends to WDW. I would absolutely love to be there during the flower show. Maybe when the children are gone and we are retired...

we will be in wdw the week of easter and only planned one day for our 4 park power park hopping and of course it is april 15 and i really cant change it because of our ps dining at our favorite restaurants in the parks, so my guess epcot will look like it suppose to with all the flowers and such, the only thing we will miss is the concerts and what?

i always wanted to visit during the flower fest but i just found out about yesteday in my disney mag. :sunny:

From Deb's site, here's the info on ladybug releases:

Especially for Kids:

A new, expanded Disney's DogGone Maze, with shaded digging areas that include mini-backhoes, tunnels, climbing structures and a garden of canine topiaries such as Pluto, Lady and the Tramp, and even Stitch (who thinks he's a dog!).
The big kids' Space Garden, which challenges children to imagine what plants could look like on planets that might support life. The centerpiece is a 40-foot by 13-foot futuristic rope climbing structure.
Daily butterfly releases (11 a.m.) and ladybug releases (12:30 and 2:30 p.m.) at the Wildlife Garden, which also features three large butterfly topiaries. A child is selected to help with each release.
Kidcot Fun Stops at every World Showcase country that entertain children with a lineup of creative activities linked to each country's culture.
