Epcot Exit Strategy

My next trip to Epcot will be with my in-laws who are not too fond of walking long distances. We'll be having dinner at Biergarten and then watching Illuminations from somewhere in that vicinity. From that point would you recommend heading to Boardwalk and grabbing an Uber, or heading to the main exit and catching one or heading to the busses? We'll be staying at OKW. Thanks for any tips!

Easiest walk would be out IG to Beachclub and get a cab or Uber there. After dinner walk in the direction of the USA Pavilion, watch Illuminations from somewhere in that area or keep walking toward France to watch. After the show walk out the IG, it is a little shorter than going to the front gate, but definitely a lot less crowded.

Also after the show, find a bench for a few min before heading out to BC. Let the crowd die down a bit. Since you'll be standing for the fireworks, your inlaws might like a bit of a break before walking out.

I was going to say the same thing as jo-jo! Definitely find a spot to sit and let the crowds disperse before heading to either one of the exits.

Personally, I'd sit and wait, then go out the front so you guys can see and have pictures made in front of Spaceship Earth at night when it's all lit up. It's really beautiful. I'd just go catch a bus back to OKW. But use your judgement on IG vs. main gate based on just how averse they are to walking...I don't know if it would be any shorter to exit via IG and then get to the Boardwalk lobby to catch a cab or uber than it would be just to go out the main gate and go to the bus stop...if you were picking a resort to take an uber from, I'd pick Beach Club because it's closer.

Don't know if it's just me, but the walk from Epcot's front gate to the buses seem like forever. And then of course the standing, waiting for a bus and perhaps standing ON the bus.

I agree with heading to IG. A lot of people recommend the France Bridge as a good spot to view Illuminations, and that would put you right there to exit as well.
