I am confused about EMH at Epcot. Plan to go to Epcot EMH on our first night, January 20. Does the 3 extra hours start when WS would normally close (i.e. 9pm until midnight) or 3 hours from when FW would normally close (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.) I notice that the only two WS attractions that will be open during the EMH will be Maelstrom and El Rio del Tiempo. Will the shops be open in the other countries for browsing?

On a non-EMH night at EPCOT do the shops and counter service restaurants close at 9:00 or are they open during illuminations?

Did anyone go to the EMH night at Epcot last May? I would appreciate any info you have about the timing.

and wonder where you read the info that you mentioned.

Anyone have any links?

Right now the counter service and the shops all close at the first shot of Illuminations. And they do close quickly. They are standing at the door waiting for the first shot and immediatly close up.

I would assume the EMH would start once the park is closed. 9pm or 9:30pm depending on the night. But I too am a little confused on what will and will not be open. In front you have TT, Mission, UOE, WOL. I doubt Living Seas and Land will stay open. Maybe Imagination.

Where did you find the list of attractions that will be open late? Just curious.

I don't know if it's open during Illuminations but I have shopped in MouseGear after Illuminations many times. So I can tell you that as of August 8, 2004 MouseGear was open after 9:00 pm. After that date, I couldn't tell ya.

This is the list I got from another site:
Epcot:
Mission: SPACE
Spaceship Earth
Test Track
Universe of Energy
Journey into Imagination
El Rio del Tiempo
Honey I Shrunk the Audience
Living with the Land
The Maelstrom
What I wanted to know is how they know you are eligible for the late nights. Someone with experience from May please fill us in. I would think wristbands would be a logistic nightmare. How were the crowds?

For the morning EMH, does the World Showcase also open an hour early, or just Future World? Sorry if this is a repeat Q!

We went in May and only certain attractions will be open late. It was really fun to do the late hours. It wasn't too crowded, and some of the attractions had fast passes. Around 5pm, in certain areas of Epcot you will see CM's standing with wristbands. You just have to show your room key to prove you are a disney resort guest, and everyone one in your party gets a wrist band. After the official closing time, certain areas of Epcot are roped off and only those with wrist bands are allowed to go through. The rest are encouraged to leave the park. Some of Epcot was pretty dark, as they do close the food vendor carts and resturants, stores too. The stores though in future world do stay open late so you can still shop. Busses also run late too.
:boat:

Just curious-do they ask for ID with your room key? Otherwise, what's to prevent you from "lending" your room key to a friend staying off-site or maybe just living in the area so they can attend the EMH at the same time as you? If the CMs just hand-out wristbands to whoever shows them a room key (with a valid date) this seems to me like it could be abused. The old way, although it cost money, you had to get your ticket at the resort (come to think of it, that had as much potential for abuse-Never Mind!)

So, will the EMH start at 7 p.m. when FW would normally close or does it start at 9pm. when W.S. would normally close.

If it starts at 7 p.m. how would they restrict el rio del tiempo and maelstrom to on-site guests only if WS stays open until 9.

If it starts at 9 p.m. it would run until midnight meaning the FW rides would be open 5 hours later than normal.

What did they do in May?

I would love to know since we plan to utilize the EMH at EPCOT on our first night at WDW in January and I am trying to plan our evening.

Mousegear is open 2 hours after park closing.

My understanding is that World Showcase always opens at 11 a.m., whether or not it's EMH.

FW was opened until midnight because we kept riding Test Track over and over with little or no lines!! Mission Space you could just keep walking on the ride!! The pathway from FW to the worlds are roped off at the bridges and a CM is there to check and see if you have a wrist band on. Most of the attractions we went on in May all had little or no waiting. It was great. The busses run late also. As far as handing out bracelets, we just showed the CM our room key and they put a bracelet on our wrist. We did not have to show any other identification. Hope this information helps. As far as the other parks go, the late nights all ran until midnight. At MGM my BIL stayed on the Rock N Roller coaster for 4 straight rides without getting off!! He just gave the CM's a thumbs up and they just let you keep riding!! MK was a little bit busier at night, but not overwhelming. We did Buzz Lightyear a few times, but used fast pass for that. Animal Kingdom was fun too, as we did the safari ride late after 6:30, and saw a different aspect of the animals when they are out of the afternoon heat. :boat:
