Epcot changes coming?

I agree that EO has to go. It feels extremely outdated. Pick any other Disney movie or whatever and make a 3D short out of it to replace the current attraction.

If any changes are happening as a result of this, I really hope they focus on Future World. Epcot really needs a new E ticket ride.

Why did they close the Wonders of Life pavilion, anyway? I always liked the attractions in there. Body Wars and Cranium Command. (Was there anything else? I can't remember.) They should start with updating that pavilion and reopening it, since they won't even have to close any current attractions to do it.

I'd also love to see some new countries in World Showcase. Someone upthread suggested India - I second that suggestion. Mmm, Indian food.

Returning Future World to the future would be awesome. There is so much they could/should do to put this place back into the spirit that was intended for it. I love World Showcase but would like more culture and less shopping really and perhaps a couple of really interesting countries. An African country would be good. And India.

Africa was next scheduled pavilion, until they built Animal Kingdom. Now Africa (and India to an extent in Asia section and at Sanaa) are represented there instead, so doubtful they'd be added to Epcot. My heart is with Brazil :-)

I think WoL was closed because they lost the sponsorship from United cross or blue life insurance. Then they left it go. I would personally like to see it made into a real health exhibit, with a playground in the middle for kids, exercise tips and programs, a true baby center with information about pregnancy for mamas or a how babies are made film(there was a beautiful one when the pavilion opened, and a m&g for characters in their sports outfits. Maybe tie it in with rundisney, popwarner, and cheer leading competions?

Well.....
A good portion of Brazil comes to WDW every year.
Just follow the flags and you'll think you're in São Paulo. ;)

Hopefully he can breathe some new life into Future World.

I'm actually okay with World Showcase as is.

How about some new countries? They had allotted space for them in the original plan/design.
And while they are at it, create rides within the new countries.
PLEASE.

Does this mean there will actually be a desire from within me to go to EPCOT? If so, sign me up for changes as soon as Disney approves it. :cool1:

MetLife was the sponsor of the Pavillion and did not renew sponsorship. The sponsors often own some of the intellectual property in the Pavillion. Without knowing the contract it's hard to know what MetLife had but likely some important components and Disney would only have a short time in which to use them. Then it's closure time.

As for Tom Fitzgerald it will take some time to see major things happen. But this does seem to be and indicator that they know that Epcot needs a rethink and refresh.

It was MetLife that sponsored Wonders of Life. I wish they would do something with that pavilion too. I agree they also need to update Captain EO with a new 3D show. ::yes::

So many cool things could be added here to make it an ACUTAL Future World. I really like the health idea someone mentioned. Great idea

There is so much they could do with aviation, space, ANYTHING is better than whats there.

There is room in world showcase for a few more countries, i think. I know at least 2.

That would be an awesome idea for WoL! :thumbsup2
FW desperately needs new life. I usually just walk through it on my way to WS except for the occasional TT (which is why I am excited to be staying at BWV this year, I can skip FW all together). If it had some better attractions and more about the future and science/technology, it might be worth a stop now and then.

YES! More rides with countries! It would also be a way of telling more information about those countries and more of those cooling boat rides would be appreciated in the summer. :woohoo:

Love it!

I am okay with that, but if doesn't happen that's okay too.

They could squeeze in a country next to Germany, I think, but where else?

I'd like to see Spain or Australia.

However, Future World needs the most help. Open the Wonders of Life and bring back the concept of Horizons if not the ride. Complete redo Imagination with Figment and Dreamfinder. Also put more to do in Innoventions. Most of that area is pretty bleak. Also, as a PP said bring back some of the lost entertainment.

Here's hoping he can bring some fresh ideas into a stagnant park. I half-expect to see tumbleweeds rolling through sometimes. I was going to post a list of personal requests, but there's no way in hell most of them would ever happen, like moving Soarin' out of The Land and taking Nemo out of The Living Seas.

Well, they've already given you half of one request. Soarin IS in a separate building from the land pavilion...that's why that hallway is so darn long. Making an entrance for Soarin outside of the land pavilion that looks more like the standalone attraction at Disneyland would be a challenge. But it would be possible, and would actually open up a good bit of space for something else in there.

I so want them to do an omni-mover type ride through space because there are so many cool subjects that have been discovered over the last 10 years. You got the Big Bang, quantum physics, black holes, quasars, and all kinds of the neatest stuff.

But yeah, I'd love for Epcot to get back to the mantra of entertainment through education. Get rid of all the characters again except for the ones specifically designed for Epcot.

Also, bring back a parade.

Refurb Ellen's Energy Adventure.

OK...
We have a motion and three seconds.
Time for a vote.
All in favor of tossing EO out on its A** signify by saying AYE...

Aye....

Heck bringing back Honey I Shrunk the Audience would be a HUGE improvement.

Didn't like EO back in the 90's and can't imagine why Disney brought it back for more than a short time to memorialize MJ. (but 4 years is Too long for a memorial)
