Has anyone had experience in ordering a cake from the Epcot section of the cake hotline?

I called left a message last Thursday and 2 since. Is this a normal waiting time? :confused3

Has anyone else received a cake at Rose & Crown?

I'm getting a little anxious since I called 2 weeks out and I'm leaving on Saturday. And I would like to check this off my list. :thumbsup2

Thank you!!

Yeah, I ordered a cake for someone last week at an Epcot restaurant. I left messages twice and then a few days later someone from the actual restuarant called and left me a message with her direct phone extension. I called her and ordered the cake.

So I think it just takes awhile for someone from the restaurant to get back to you.

They called me back about 3 days prior to the actual dining reservation-- so they should be calling you soon.

We ordered our DS(17)'s cake on the EP cake line in Feb. Not to be a downer, but it was the worst birthday cake he's ever had. :sad2: I was so disappointed. We received a single layer, square cake, w/ an edible image larger than the cake surface. The cake was chocolate/chocolate. (Your choices are choc/choc or vanilla/vanilla.) Our DS's tasted like a flourless cake & not in a good way. It was very dry. It reminded both my DH & me of an Easy Bake Oven cake. We ate at Biergarten that night, & they were great about it. I don't know if it was our disappoinment in what we received, the fact we only had one bite each, or the fact we didn't want to take it with us, but they didn't charge us for the cake. ;) We didn't ask for the charge to be removed.

The lady I spoke to on the EP cake line couldn't have been any nicer. We obviously had serious miscommunication over the cake I wanted though. It was nothing like I thought it would be. Plus, she quoted me a price of $41. At Biergarten, our server said the price they were given was $34. $34 wasn't any of the quotes I was given to choose from. :confused3

My suggestion, try to order one from R&C directly. If that's not possible, make sure you know exactly what you're getting.

It's awesome that you were able to speak to someone at the restaurant directly. I had to order from the cake line, but the lady did answer on my 2nd call. Maybe, they've changed things since Feb. Good luck getting a fabulous cake. :wizard:

Thank you! I'll be there 3 days before the dining reservation. I'm not sure why they ask to call 2 weeks out then. :confused3

I think I will call the restaraunt directly, if no one calls me back tomorrow. Goodness, one week and 3 messages and no one calls back? Lord!

I'm sorry that happened. I saw your post in the chatter thread. It seems the Epcot portion of the cake hotline is not really up to stuff. They should be since they have all the restaraunts. Or maybe they are overwhelmed. In either case, someone should be calling back.

It sounds like your cake was of the podium version? Or someone forgot & tried to whip one up for you. I'm glad they did not charge you. It seems the restaraunt itself completely understood.

I'm hoping for the best; but I'll make sure it all goes to plan. Like noted above, I think I will call the restaraunt directly.

I called the Coral Reef (since that is where we will be celebrating our Anniversary) and Tom called me back and gave me this number to order any cakes within Epcot 00 407-560-6395 -- The message also states that small cakes can be ordered the same day -- Which I what I think I will do instead since there are only 3 of us and I don't need a big cake. Good Luck!

Our son's cake had chocolate shavings on the side, so I don't think it was a podium cake. Regardless, I hope you get a fabulous cake! pixiedust:

Thanks tarheelfan -- I hope so too! :wizard:

I still have not received a phone call back! ARGH.

I will either call the R&C directly or perhaps, just give up on the idea. I can't believe it takes so much effort to do this!

We had a cake for my son last July at Coral Reef. I ordered via the cake hotline. It was one layer choc, one layer vanilla cake. The image was Goofy playing basketball. It turned out great and tasted good too. We took it back to the resort and it lasted a few days. I think I paid around $30 - $32 for the cake, but that was almost a year ago.

I just got a phone call back from the cake hotline from a Jules or Julie. She said she finished with her April orders and moved on to her May orders.

I ordered a Plan A and a Plan B cake, since cake choices are very limited. It is either the 6" podium for $21; 8" limited personalized for $32 or the 10" Mickey Mouse head in chocolate for $48.

I orered a 8" with vanilla filling/buttercream (it was either vanilla or chocolate, no other filling available) and to have Happy 15th Birthday on top with flowers & strawberries for Plan A.

Plan B was same as above but with edible art of Sleeping Beauty.

She said she would send Plan A to the chef today and see what he says. If the answer is no, she will call me back and let me know it is Plan B.

She was very personable and the call lasted almost 22 minutes. I did try to confirm her name, but either she didn't tell me or she didn't catch my question. :confused3 Considering how personable she was, I'm assuming she just didn't catch my question.

The Plan B cake was at Rose & Crown for our 6:40pm ADR.

I never did get a call from the cake hotline informing me that cake would be Plan B. This is not a big deal, but if you are going to call, then call.

In any case, it was a good cake; the chef came out with it and seemed impressed. We ate it later that night in the American Amphittheater after Illuminations.

In my case, the 15 yr old and the 35 yr old both having meltdowns (whining, weren't hungry, etc), so I canceled the ADR and had them box the cake.

We did eat about half of it there, carried it to the resort, but ended up leaving it when we checked out the next day. I will post a pic on the cake chatter thread very soon!

IMHO, it is not worth it to order a cake at the park restaraunts. The desserts they have would suffice. If you are having private dining or at the resort, then go for it. And at $45, it is a pretty big expense.
