We're coming in Oct with our DS9 and DD5. I'm making a list of rides/attractions for DS9 only, DD5 only and both (most in this category). DS is just starting to like roller coasters but does not like loops. DD is a bit of a chicken but is also trying some new things.

Here is what I'm thinking, but any other suggestions:

DS9 Only
  • Test Track...unless line is crazy

DD5 Only
  • Journey Into Imagination with Figment

Both
  • Soarin (FP) ... or just for DS, still figuring out if too scary for DD
  • Turtle Talk (FP)
  • Seas with Nemo (FP)
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Living with the Land

Any other suggestions? Especially for our little one.

Gran Fiesta Tour. It's essentially a shorter, Mexican version of Its a Small World.

Maelstrom is also good. My daughter also enjoys playing some of the interactive games in innoventions.

Depends on the kid, but Maelstrom can be a little scary for some little ones. I would watch it on Youtube first.

Make sure you go meet Duffy!

Is there a reason DS isn't included for Figment? My older DD loves it.

I would also add Maelstrom and Gran Fiesta Tour.

Not a ride, but I suggest seeing the Voices of Liberty at the America Pavilion. My kids love the show.

My DD was 5 for her first visit to Disney last year and is also a major chicken when it comes to rides. She has cried on the slow boat ride at our local amusement park. However, she loved Soarin and rode it twice in a row. I was worried Test Track would be too much for her, but after watching it for a while she said she wanted to do it and it ended up being her favorite ride in all of WDW. You never know what your kids will take to! I would recommend letting them both try anything they are tall enough for, unless your daughter is vocal about not wanting to ride once she sees it. She also ended up loving Mission Space Green and also rode it twice in a row (we were doing rider swap because of too short DS).

Definitely Nemo and Turtle Talk plus there is a great shark play and learn area. I also have always loved Spaceship Earth since I was little. Can they do Soarin? Also a lot of kids like the interactive scavenger games.

My DS told me today (quite randomly) that his favorite ride was spaceship earth!!! He was 6 when we went.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Of course we'll let our kids actually pick when they see if, but just wanted to get an idea (and helps in planning FP).

I have added Gran Fiesta Tour.

I took a look at Maelstorm on you tube, and I think it may be scary for my little one, but my DS may like it.

Innoventions is a good one if we want a break from the rides or its hot.

Funny with kids. Can't believe she rode Mission Space. I even took that one off for DS9 (again, he can let us know otherwise when we are there)

For Figment, I guess I originally had Soarin and Test Track on "his only" list so was finding something for DD to do at same time.

Question...is Living with Land boring or a good one for kids?

My kids have always liked Living with the Land, but they are all different. I also think Figment is fine for any age. When mine were too short to ride something, they liked to waste time in the fountains that spray out of the ground, or watching the fountains that "jump" by Figment.

It just depends on the kid, but I wouldn't discourage them from trying anything they are tall enough for, except maybe Dinosaur. Definitely let them choose, but don't tell them something is scary, it may not be. Most of the rides at WDW ar tame and suited for families, they aren't like Universal or even Kings Island. Also, things aren't really close together, which is hard tomgrasp until you get there and see for yourself.

As an FYI, you can't see many of the rides from the line or before you get on them. The only ones you can see are Dumbo, Barnstormer, Triceratop Spin at AK, parts of Primeval Whirl at AK, BTMRR, the drop on Splash, the carousel, Aladdin's carpets, the cars going by outside on Test Track for about 30 seconds.

Have a great trip!

We like living with the land a lot, and go every time, but not as an FP item. If the wait isn't bad, give it a go! I just love the lemons as big as bowling balls!

Thanks. Am just trying to get an idea - and for FP planning, but as mentioned, they can always let us know themselves. (We aren't telling them about the trip until about 1 - 1.5 months before we go so can't have them watch youTube now...plus don't want to spoil everything by watching beforehand). Also, we'll only have from about 10:15am (after our ADR) to 3:30ish at Epcot so trying to prioritize the rides/attractions that we definitely want to hit.

Good to know things aren't as close as they appear on the map. Have no concept of distance or location as first trip to DS.

We've been to WDW twice with DS he was 4 the first time and 5 on the second visit. His very favourite ride at EP is Spaceship Earth. We went on it like 6 times last year. :lmao:

He also really enjoyed Soarin', Maelstrom, Mission Space (Green) & Living with the Land.

Rides aside, he spent the most time and enjoyed the tanks in the Seas pavilion more than anything. We were in there for a good couple of hours.

Hi,

I have several children with the youngest being 6&7.
I would not waste a FP on Turtle Talk with Crush and not even Nemo.
If you can be in the park even within the first hour of opening the wait should be minimal. 5-20 minutes max.
I would exchange those for Spaceship Earth and either Illuminations or Character Spot, if you are sure they won't ride Mission Space.
I have never waited longer than 20 minutes for Nemo or 10 minutes for TT w/Crush .

My kids love Soarin and Test Track! They've been riding both since they were 3&4, because they're tall . Even though TT has that fast outdoor part , they don't find it scary at all. They love the design part during the line.

Have Fun!

Thanks. Epcot opens at 9am the day we're going and we have a 9:15am ADR at Akershus (no later times available) so won't be able to go on rides until after. And we are leaving 3:30 or 4ish for MNSSHP so won't catch Illuminations. Also, aside from A&E, we have some character ADRs so don't plan on adding any characters more at the parks.
I really didn't see much else for FP (since can't do Soarin and Test Track) so figured why not use FP...but if its more worthwhile for Spaceship Earth, then will pick that one instead of Crush or Turtle Talk.

My kids (and the kids at heart) love the Piggy Bank Adventure at Innovations. There are many interactive games at Innovation, Space Earth exit and TestTrack exit. Give them a try!
