We went to Epcot our last trip in the morning and it was empty. We went the last week in Jan. so it was really slow. Is it the norm for Epcot to be slow when it opens or was that unusual? I know that Epcot stays open late for extra magic hours but does it also open early too? There are only a few rides we want to try at Epcot and we don't want to spend more than a couple of hours there.

epcot does have am emh...head to soarin, grab a fastpass for soarin, head to tt, head to ms, head back to soarin and get out.

and that gives us the chance to talk to the security cast members. Good information we don't get anywhere else. Very nice.
Crowds always appear by opening and make a mad rush inside then must stop for the character opening. Then a mad rush to Soarin'. Maybe we are just always lucky to be there when the crowds are there!

I agree with the previous posters...We do arrive at Epcot before opening. We follow the CMs over to Soarin, grab a fastpass and also ride (no wait at all!!!), then head over to TT and ride (maybe 15 minute wait), then Missions Space (if I'm feeling brave) and back to Soarin to use the fastpass. If we are staying for the day, I save to fastpass for later in the day. You really can get a lot in if you show up just before opening!!! Have fun!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the info. I booked our trip during a busy time and my DH is not happy about it. I want to have a plan before we leave so we can get on as many rides as possible.

Definately take advantage of morning EMH at Epcot. We did on our last trip and were able to ride everything we wanted before offical opening. Then while everyone was races for the rides, we were able to do other stuff without crowds as well. Morning EMH worked out so much better for us than the evening EMH.

I certainly think Epcot has become busier in the mornings due to Soarin'. Certainly when we were there before Soarin opened, we didn't queue for a thing. Last time we went it was manic.

We are planning to arrive in Orlando at 11 and arrive at Epcot by 1 p.m. in two weeks (January 22) . . . do you think the line for Soarin' will be outrageous? When we went to MK and AK last year at the same time, we walked onto every ride . . .

We were there New Years Eve. Thru turnstiles at opening time. Straight round to Soaring line was up the stairs and out the building. We got fastpass and stood in standbye line said 30 minutes but was actually 15mins. Then had a muffin and coffee and time to use fastpass. A while later we looked at the info board and it was 140mins standbye. Mission space was 90mins standbye and 40mins for fastpass so will wait until August for Mission space.
