Epcot Area of MK area?

I am sure this question is going to be a matter of opinion but I thought I would see what you all say.

We are planning a trip the last week of May and we have traditionally stayed at Magic Kingdom area resorts. We have done the Poly, GF, Contemporary and WL. We have also stayed at AKL. But we have never stayed at an Epcot Area resort.

We are considering the Yacht or Beach club but we don't know if we will like staying in this area. I know that it will be so drastically different than staying at the MK area resorts.

One important aspect is convenience. We are traveling with two small children (a 1 and 2 year old) so I like the idea of being able to get to two parks by boat.

What do you guys think?

I think it just depends on where you plan on spending the most time.

We stayed at BWI in November and absolutely loved it. The whole Epcot resort area is really wonderful -- it's like a vacation unto itself. And the convenience of being able to boat over to DHS or stroll into Epcot is priceless.

But...right now, our family spends the most time at MK. We have one young kid (6), and he just greatly prefers MK to the other parks. So as much as we loved BWI, we'll be staying at GF next month.

If you'll spend more time in Epcot and/or DHS, or even equal time, then go for an Epcot resort. You won't regret it. :thumbsup2

You will get all manner of replies on this one.

I just did Nov/Dec. at Beach Club with my 2 and 4 year olds. It was very convenient for us because we could walk to a lot of stuff without taking the kids out of the double stroller. Epcot and Hollywood Studios were walkable for us as well as the option to walk through Epcot and monorail to MK. We did end up going to Epcot every day because of the convenience and it surprisingly turned out to be everyone's favorite park.

As you can see from my siggy, Beach Club was a massive success for us and I have no real desire to stay anywhere else. But I don't think you can go wrong no matter which place you choose.

We have stayed at all three MK area resorts. Poly the most. It was very convenient with a double and single stroller. It is still convenient without strollers. We loved the BWI. It is a beautiful area. Believe or not, Epcot is our favorite park. We still prefer MK resort area for the beaches, fireworks, the list goes on and on. I booked the BC for this upcoming trip and cancelled. I am sure it is a fabulous resort with an amazing pool. I am booked at POR now where we have stayed once before. My family is pushing for MK area again this year. My children are young disney adults now. As others have said, you can't go wrong at either area.

I think the Epcot area resorts are just as convenient as the MK area resorts. You can still get to two parks without taking the buses. I prefer the Epcot area because you can even walk to Epcot or DHS if you want so you don't have to wait around, and you also have the option to walk around at Swan/Dolphin or Boardwalk for a change of scenery, as those resorts are in walking distance also.

The only think I wouldn't be crazy about with kids those ages is the pool at YC/BC. It's an extremely busy and popular pool, and I know I prefer to go to the quiet pools wherever I stay. There's also a section of the pool where the lazy river is like 8 ft deep I think. Just something to consider if you use the pools frequently.

We have stayed all of the MK and Epcot resorts, you really can't go wrong with any of them. My suggestion is, if you find you will be going to the MK park the most, then stay at a MK resort, if not give an Epcot reort a try. We did the MK resorts when DD was little, then started the Epcot resorts when she got old because we found ourselves spending more time at Epcot and DHS.

I agree with the above poster, the main pool at the BC/YC may be a bit overwhelming with the ages of your children. It's huge and beautiful, but they do have a kiddie pool and the quiet pool.

Ever since I started staying onsite I always stayed at the Contemporary, Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge. However in August 2010 I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for the 1st time and ever since then I have become hooked because it's now my favorite favorite place to stay, so I very much enjoy the Epcot Resort Area.
