We rode Soarin' and then headed over toward Figment & HISTA. Figment was down, so we went to look at the leaping fountains. I was a bit disappointed...it seemed that they let this area go a little. A majority of the leaping water didn't even make it to the next area - it was hitting the rocks just before the next fountain.

It use to be one of my fav areas - just to see the kids watch it and get caught in the leaping water.

Just wondered if I was the only one who thought this....

There are a few spots at WDW that need some work (The Imagination pavilion being one of them), but it's not as bad as it was back around 2001/2002, when some corners of the parks looked extremely poorly maintained.
I noticed that LOTS of the LEDs on the Illuminations Globe need to be replaced, and that some ride special effects are out of order. On Saturday, Illuminations was also missing its perimeter fireworks, although it was pretty windy, which may explain why. I'd love to figure out how exactly they decide whether to go with none, one or three (I think - it's been a long time since I've seen that) rounds of perimeter "comets".

Those fountains go in cycles. I would guess that every other time I've been there they've been misaligned. It happens when you have 35 year old technology...

Actually, those fountains at the Imagination Pavilion just underwent a major rehab during Sept. of 2005 (we were there in October right after they re-opened). The water sometimes will 'miss' hitting it's mark if the wind is blowing--not much Disney can do to prevent that. Or, it is certainly possible that people have been fooling around with them, and the jets had temporarily been pushed slightly out of alignment. If the area looked shabby again so soon after what was a quite extensive rehab, then there must be an awful lot of unusual wear and tear occurring.

On the fireworks issue...
Yes, if the wind is blowing (at specific speeds or directions), it is often (by law) necessary to adjust a fireworks display accordingly for safety reasons. Disney certainly would not want debris from the fireworks to hit any of their guests, if it can be avoided. And so they take appropriate action in an attempt to keep their shows as safe as possible. You will sometimes see elements of all fireworks displays (not just at Disney) 'missing' for exactly this reason--crowd safety. ::yes::
