A question for those who may be "in the know".

Epcots 25th anniversary is coming up next year, yet, with the "Million Dreams" theme going on, I do not see anything special being planned for Epcot. Could it be something that will be started in October, since that is the month Epcot opened, and then carrying into 2008? Does anybody have any idea, or is it waayyy toooo early to even speculate?

Thanks

I don't think there's going to be anything real special. Certainly, the Livings Seas will be finished for the anniversary. They are apparently redoing the exit area on Spaceship Earth. There's a rumor that Spaceship Earth will get a facelift and some minor changes now that it has a new sponsor. There's also a rumor running around that Imagination is scheduled for a redo and Dreamfinder will be back for the 25th. Finally, there has been talk about an Illuminations change for the anniversary.

I think that covers it. Ok?

I also read on several internet sites that they are going to be changing the Rio Del Tiempo ride in Mexico into a Three Caballeros themed ride as well as filming new footage for the Impressions of France movie. Also, I've read on several sites that supposedly they are filiming new footage in Florida for Soarin in order to change it into Soarin over Florida instead of California.

Who's the new sponsor for Spaceship Earth?

Siemens. They're projecting it onto Spaceship Earth at the end of Illuminations with green lasers.

I thought I remember a "confirmed" rumor that the Norway pavillion was getting a new movie at least a year ago. What ever happened to that?

I believe you're correct about the Norway movie and perhaps there will be a new Soarin' movie too.

I certainly hope they are planning on some upgrades for existing attractions at Epcot. A lot of them are really starting to show their age, and the World Showcase needs some sprucing up, giving it a little more pizazz, or at least bring the movies, etc. into the new millenium!!

Yow! I hope the El Rio Del Tiempo rumor is not true. I love that ride! :guilty:

We just got back Jul. 1, and I thought Epcot was looking REALLY BAD. On the monorail ride around SSE, I noticed large patched cracks on the supports for SSE. It looks like Disney just slopped some gray putty over the cracks. Very odd for a highly visible area (at least from the monorail).

The Land has not been changed at all, as far as I can tell, from my first visit to Epcot in 1987.

The Living Seas was just horrible. I realize that they are refurbishing it, but it should simply be closed until it is done. The assortment of sea creatures is not that great and the tank looks like it has not been cleaned in 10 years. Without the ride vehicles and the descent in the "hydrolator" it's nothing more than a big fish tank.

Test Track? I don't see what the big deal is. We waited in line, only to have it break down. When we finally got on, I wondered why people wait to ride it.

Epcot needs some major work. It has not significantly changed since it has opened. The films are old, they ruined the good rides (Imagination and Living Seas), and closed some of the fun ones (Body Wars, anyone?).

World Showcase is neat, especially for the dining options, but Disney needs to get on the ball and fix this park.

Did you miss Soarin' and the revamped Food Court? We really love both.

I agree with most of the posts here: Epcot deserves some TLC, especially with the big anniversary.

I don't see a need to fix this park. Maybe some refurbishing is in order and/or updating, particularly the Wonders of Life problem. But it doesn't need fixing.

That's what I meant by fix. I don't think they need to start over, but some of the "future technologies" they demonstrate are kinda dated now.

Just my .02.

I was Disney in 1991 and I remember the Land had an show with dancing food and I thought that was so cute. The Lion King show upstairs was new since last went too. The food court menus have also seemed to have changed since then too. I was also disappointed in Imagination was pretty empty also the one that had the body wars in it. There was not much to do for my 2 girls (4&5) at Epcot.

Kitchen Kabaret! I loved that show!

PLEASE tell me a change in Illuminations isnt true. I LOVE it the way it is now. If they change it, will it be a pernament change or go back to the way it is now after the 25th epcot celebration?

To the best of my knowledge, once they change the shows at the World Showcase, that's it! Bye Bye to the old show. The only exception that I know of, is when they add some extra stuff at Christmas, but they do not actualy change the show itself. But the added stuff goes away after Christmas.
