Hi Everyone

We are surprising DS7 with a birthday trip...I know there are things in EPCOT (finding different things around the world) and AK (some page thing?) Any insight on these 2 programs would be outstanding! Names? Time we should allow?etc... Thank you!

:disrocks:

The program at Animal Kingdom is called Wilderness Explorers from the movie "UP!". There are 'stations' around the park with difference activities at each station. Kids earn "badges" as they go. I wouldn't know the cumulative time range needed because you accomplish these as you move through the park. In EPCOT, the Phinneas and Ferb electronic game (the name escapes me) is more of a scavenger hunt kind of game. You start in a particular country and then move around the World Showcase according to the clues. I love that game, but have not paid attention to the time needed as we play as we go around the WS. Sometimes we have to backtrack, but usually it's not chaotic. Both are great fun....even for someone who is far beyond 7 years old. (Chronologically). Have a great trip.

This sounds like fun. Do you have pictures of the Wilderness Explores stuff? Are they really badges or stickers?

With Wilderness Explorer, the children will receive booklets and will go around the park participating in activities to earn badges (they're really stickers). It's a pretty big book. It took DS three, 1/2 days in AK to complete the entire book. Even if you don't complete it, it's a fun activity. If you google Wilderness Explorer in AK a ton of blog posts and videos will pop up so you can see what it is like and what the booklet and stickers look like.

LOVE Wilderness Explorers. It's a nice book and you get stickers. You learn so much and many of the CM interactions are great.

This comment confuses me just a bit. I'm fairly certain that each country has its own "mission" and you don't move back and forth between the countries. You finish the mission in one country and then you can go to another; it's not a continuation of the first mission, but each country has a stand-alone mission and you can do as many or as few as you have time to do. Each one takes about 20-30 min, depending on how fast you figure out the clues.

Your observations are correct. We usually do 3 countries in a day, so that's why we move through particular countries. Sorry for the confusion.

Last year my son was 8.. wilderness explorers took about 3 hours to finish.. We did it all at once as he decided to do it after we finished other plans there... Did take some time finding a few stations though.

Agent P at Epcot is only in a few countries, you decide what country to do and stay in that country. About 20 minutes/mission.

Also Magic Kingdom has Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom which is a card/video game played in the different lands.. finishing the overall mission can take a couple days unless you dedicate a lot of time to it. But it is popular with that age set.

For Sorcerer's, you can stop in the fire station on Main St. to get your cards and a tutorial on how to play the game. There is also a place behind the Christmas shop in Liberty Square.

I would also suggest doing the Pirate Adventure in Adventureland. You receive a map and do interactive adventures all around Adventureland. You can get your map in a little building on the path between PoTC and Splash.

As PP said for Sorcerers, start at the fire station after you enter Magic Kingdom. Make sure your whole family registers to play even if your son is the only one playing, as you each get a card pack so his collection will grow more quickly. And you can get a card pack each day you go there.
