The new calendar is up, and apparently... next month is Environmentalism Month.

...

So much for the Epcot theme...

Oh boy, i feel like my science teacher just took over vmk.

I'm not usually one to judge things before they happen but...

Oh Puhlllleeeeeesssseee....
I hope to the heavens this isn't a preachy Conservation Station month.. I welcome the idea of trees and flowers and so forth, but please... don't be a preachy month about animal rights and the Ozone layer.. please please please :rolleyes1 .

You know, as lame as this theme seems, I would be behind it 100% if it involved BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY.

BILL BILL BILL BILL! (science rules) BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!

Okay I'm done now.

Ok, Environmental Science is my proposed major, so I love the whole green-friendly stuff. :goodvibes

But, please Disney, there is a time and a place to promote environmentally friendly stuff, and this isn't the place! :sad2:

Doing it in VMK (towards plenty of younger children) is not "teaching"... it's brainwashing.

How would it be brainwashing? I think that as long as the teaching is done in a fun and friendly way, this is the place for it. :)
What is wrong with teaching kids about being environmentally friendly? It's never too early in my book. :)

YAY! That sounds so cool! I am so in for that.. Hehe as a past member of my school's "green group," I give it two thumbs up! It may seem a bit weird to connect VMK with like environmental issues instead of say, Classic Disney, but I have a feeling something good is about to come! :)

Blech :crazy2: infotainment... I'm sorry, but if I want to learn about the environment, i'll pick up a biology book or an issue if US News... not learn about stuff I already know through VMK..

:rotfl: Well, I have to say that the game descriptions sound a bit cheesy, but the idea behind it is a good one. And it's a good way to tie in St. Patrick's Day, with the green theme.

Fun and Friendly, then yes.

If the Host Pin is "Hole in the Ozone" pin, then no.

that is so funny I was just going to post something about saving our enviroment on the VMK CB but will post to this thread now....

if every household in the US would exchange just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars.

Times that by 3 if you buy a 3 pack at Walmart for just $7.58

http://www.walmart.com/search/searc...flouresent&ic=24_0&Continue.x=13&Continue.y=2

We have changed out over 1/2 the bulbs in our home and will change the remainer out this month....Please join me in the fight to save our Planet!

Thank you!

Mal

I kinda think it's cool. It's something that we really haven't seen before. What is wrong with trying something new? Nothing!

Although young children may not be too keen on the enviroment, I think they are a good target as they are who come after us, and are going to have to deal with upcoming problems concerning our earth. We must also remember about Jack Johnson's song, "The 3 R's," as found on the Curious George Soundtrack. I do not believe this song is brainwashing, rather a way to enforce actions that benefit our planet, like recycling. :goodvibes

"We got to learn to reduce, reuse, recycle, reduce, reuse, recycle." :lovestruc

I'm not sure what the big deal is? Disney is very much into what they call "Environmentality" and is also very much into the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund. Conservation was important to Walt Disney. Heck, they have an entire park (Animal Kingdom) that heavily promotes conservation. VMK is one big Disney advertisement...so why can't Disney also promote a part of them that is very important to the company...environmentalism?

Isn't Epcot about tomorrow? Pretty sure the enviroment is a key part in having a better tomorrow.
