entry time on extra magic hour days?

i know the extra magic hour days allows us in 1 hour early, but i also thought i heard that the front of the park (main street, or the front of MGM) actually opens 30 minutes prior to that so you can wait for rope drop.

...i.e., if park opens 9am, EMH opens 8am, can you enter the front of the park at 7:30am?

i think i remember doing this in MK on our last trip, but i'm not sure. anyone??? we're leaving tomorrow night, and are making our final itinerary plans!! thanks!

That sounds about right, many years ago it would open as much as an hour early but I posted the same question a couple of weeks ago and Iwas told to get there about 30 minutes in advance.

For all the many times we have done the EMH, they have only opened the park 1 hour early. Sometimes you get to go through the gate a few minutes earlier, but they hold you back just inside the gate until exactly the hour.

It's been our experience that the days of getting in 30 minutes before hand are fading. The only time we have experienced that in the past 3 years is one time at Epcot when the security/bag check lines were really, really long. It was last December the weekend the parade was filmed at MK. They started the baggage check lines and allowed guests in the plaza up to SSE, but no further until the official "rope drop". We've never been allowed to enter MK early -- always held at the turnstyles unless we've had PS for breakfast.

Wondering if you have the schedule of which parks open early on which days. I'll be there Tuesday and Wed. of this coming week and was trying to plan my days. Thanks
